I have yet to see a thread on this topic so here goes…as a woman, how does your relationship with your parents change after you get married and/or have children? Does it get better or worse? stay the same?
Re: Relationship with Parents after marriage
It’s gotten better.
- I understand and appreciate my mom more.
- My dad thinks I’ve grown up so he listens to me
.
Re: Relationship with Parents after marriage
Mine got better too, especially with my mom.
100% agree with Niksik on the two points she has mentioned.
Re: Relationship with Parents after marriage
indeed i have learnt to appreciate and respect them more and understand their views better now. same for my mom, my absence has made her appreciate my role as her daughter better otherwise she always had tons of complains. other than that i'm living miles away, hardly talk to them more than once/twice a month.
Re: Relationship with Parents after marriage
agree with niksik.....i sooo appreciate my mum more.
however i think parents of the girl change more, my mum isnt the same with me in front of my husband or she will insist i do more for my inlaws, or the other day i bought 2 suits in the same design but different colours for my mum and one ofor MIL, i told mum to choose one, and the other il give to MIL, mum chose the nicest one for my mil, and said its best this way....annoyed me, but i can understand why she would say this, however still find that my mum doesnt accept presents the way she used to, etc....and if i buy anything for her she will always ask hawww woh kya bolega...( my husband) he doesnt sya anything, but mum assumes he will...
