To the married guppies out there, how is the relationship between your family and your in-laws? Do they keep a distance or are they close? Do you notice any differences in the way your in-laws treat your family and how they treat others?

For some reason my parents don't like them too much. Nothing much I can do in this regards.
But I love them just like my own. Infact we have a lot of mutual love and respect for each other.

Pyari...ive been reading your journal,and we share a lot of similar issues (read ur comments section....)...my inlaws are fine with my own parents, but they dont really like the rest of my family (uncles, aunts, etc..)...sometimes i dont blame my inlaws (my extended family can be a bit rude/weird....), but sometimes i think my inlaws (specifically my MIL) just doenst like them (she doenst even like her own inlaws...so why would she like her son's inlaws...lol..)...

I don’t expect my inlaws to like my extended family since they are not related to them but I do expect them to at least be polite with my immediate family…I find my MIL is more friendlier with some of my aunts and uncles than she is with my parents…our relationship is pretty good Alhumdulilah but obviously when I see her behave the way she does around my parents it only makes me want to keep a distance from her since I don’t appreciate her double standards…by the way it’s funny how MILs might not like their own inlaws but expect their DILs to…

my inlaws are really sweet... my MIL and FIL live overseas, so my parents hardly get a chance to talk to them...they do converse over the phone sometimes... I think they like one another.. neither have given a reason not to
my SIL and BIL are great too... we all have a very healthy relationshi, Alhamdulillah... everyone knows how to keep a good balance, so it works out great...
noone expects too much from one another.. and we dont throw hissy fits if something doesnt go our away...

mine are pretty good friends... the fathers get along a little too welll... hope it stays that way thou.

Alhamdulilah my mil and my parents get along really well. When my fil was alive, he was also very close to my parents. May Allah swt keep this closeness alive and strong.

my parents and my inlaws are very friendly and nice to eachother and get along really well. In fact my mom calls my MIL on the phone more than I do So far so good alhamdulillah. Both groups know how to respect one and another.
