Re: Registry
i am also going to hasve a registry but nxt year, like u my first thoughts are on a saree, then again i was thinkin about a nice skirt suit like in ivory or cream, mind u i have a 2.5 yr old n another will b arriving in time for the event lolz so will have to think about the color
Re: Registry
You mean a civil registry office do?
Most people tend to wear sari's if it's a seperate event or try to have the nikkah and civil ceromony on the same day.
I never had one - no need to - but would probably have worn a formal shalwar kameez.
Re: Registry
i think its kinda cool yall celebrate registry there, yahan pe riwaj hi nahi =//
Re: Registry
I thought you had your registration already ![]()
But yeah a nice simple sari would do

i wanted to wear a english like dress bt it takes bot 6 weeks to order and cum through and i didnt have that much time so i made do with the dress from the shop :(
neva mind! i still luked gud! ;)
Re: Registry
silsila..are you guys going to do coordinated dresses?
all the girls can do saris, pajama kurtas..or shalwar kameez!
although nikah is recognised in the uk, it is always good esp for girls to have a civil marriage, we didnt do it at the time of the wedding as so much is going on already lol. I was thinking of a sari, pls post pics!
Re: Registry
You can also do a white wedding gown like the goris do. I would go very sophoshticated and wear something long but simple. Its the one time you can wear one! Sari is also a good idea but afterall you can wear a sari at other occasions too like a sibling's wedding but the white wedding gown you can't!!
Re: Registry
I would love to wear a sari to myyyy registry…iffff we had registries in the US… ![]()
a “gori” gown…not so sure…honestly us desi girls dont look good in one…i might be wrong..but I would look lost and feel really out of place..when everyone around me is wearing desi clothes..and I ll be sticking out like a sore thumb…
I love karishma’s sari!!! (with some more blouse visible..it would look beautiful)

Cream Georgette Saree with Blouse
Re: Registry
those are really pretty sarees, chanda! whoa.
although, silsila, i'm guessing if you wear a dress, your guests would dress alike in western wear, right? so then it wouldn't look out of place... i agree with eastern, you can wear a sari and iA will wear many saris any other time. perhaps this is the time to try something different?
im not really keen on the western gown, as its only a small do, i thought sari, and my sisters could wear something to compliment the colour or do a contrast scheme!
Re: Registry
What about a fishtail lengha..
I would go for a sari tough..will look very chic
Re: Registry
you have to have a civil ceremony in the uk. the nikah is not recognised under uk law as a marriage contract unless done in an islamic country or in a registered place in the uk. if u do it at home or in a hotel, it's not valid and you need both.
Re: Registry
^^interesting rule
silisla whatever you do not order from UTSAV yes their stuff looks great but once you get the dress in the mail it turns out to be horrible. I paid $250 for a dress that I thought was gorgeous but unfortunately when I saw it in came to my house in the mail it turned out to be hideous and made from the cheapest material in earth.
Re: Registry
so what did u wear, silsila?
