Registrar will not appear before PAC: Supreme Court
ISLAMABAD: The SC Registrar will not appear before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) tomorrow, the Supreme Court said in an official statement on Thursday, DawnNews reported.
In the official statement, the Supreme Court statement said that the parliamentary body did not have the constitutional authority to scrutinise the apex court’s accounts.
It said that Article 175-3 of the Constitution separates the judiciary from the executive, and that the PAC can only scrutinise national accounts.
The statement also said that after a full court meeting it was decided that Registrar Supreme Court of Pakistan Dr Faqir Hussain will not appear before the PAC.

The Supreme court is right in saying that the PAC doesnt have the constitutional authority to audit the SC. However, that is more a slap to the sloppiness of our government than anything else, as that is how they have always worked. In a free and fair democracy, all institutions would be independent, and devoid of any external pressure, and as a result, they would not have to make these committees and sub-committees and commissions and what not, to investigate everything. As we have it, a new commission is made in every case, a new committee is formed for every petty affair, and we all know that these commissions are all biased and are representatives of their organizations.
In an honest setup, the police and FIA would be more than enough to investigate the SC, army, govt, CM, PM and president.
