Refusing to take oath under Mushy

I am reading Dawn Online today and this is the news about Raza Rabbani quitting as Opposition Leader from the Senate.

http://www.dawn.com/2008/03/24/top18.htm

I am pretty sure there are plenty of folks in PPP (and other political parties) who will jump at the chance of jhandi-walay gaaRi and a posh government residence plus naukar chaakar and power of being a federal minister, so this is likely just a small drop in a big ocean… but if some more influential members of PPP come up with the same excuse, the situation will become very interesting.

By the way, I do like Dawn for its no-nonsense clean website, without clutter, but they are very slow to update it. What is the most dynamic and real-time website for news about Pakistan? Geo.tv is good but their news are very summarized and they only cover a few topics. What other options are there?

Re: Refusing to take oath under Mushy

PPP has announced that no one will attend the PM oath taking ceremony from their executive committee nor will the chairman. PML (N) will also not attend. Javed Hashmi of PML(N) has refused to accept any seat in the cabinet because he does not want to take oath from the president. pretty much the majority of the people from both parties do not want to either attend or take oath from the president. Pretty interesting times ahead. I suppose only the PM and his cabinet later on will attend the oath taking ceremony and some might not take any posts because they don't want to take oath from him.

Re: Refusing to take oath under Mushy

Yeah, interesting.

Its a bad analogy, of course, but it seems like Mushy has leprosy, and no one wants to be near him. Whoever takes oath from him will have to keep give explanations in the future on why they accepted a ministership under Mushy's Presidency; and whether by taking oath under him, did they tacitly attempted to legitimize his rule. In politics, people, especially media, have very long memories on these kinds of decisions.

Good news is that most politicians in Pakistan are completely be-sharam (shameless) and it is hard to make them embarassed about such things in the future. :D

Of course, it can turn out to be a complete non-issue if Mushy leaves office soon thereafter, but something to tickle your minds. :)

Re: Refusing to take oath under Mushy

Again not so good news for Aalsi.:D

Re: Refusing to take oath under Mushy

Why is mushy so baysharam? Why doesn't he leaves the office with "some self respect" or is there not such thing as "self respect" in his dictionary?

Seriously, its pathetic.

Re: Refusing to take oath under Mushy

There is no baysharmi... Why should he leave?...There are many in this parliament that are dacoits and we need someone like him to be on their heads like a sword.

Re: Refusing to take oath under Mushy

This is really sad....

Seriously! it is :(

Re: Refusing to take oath under Mushy

Yup, we need a head dacoit on them and who can be a better option then the greatest president of Pakistan who has no self respect, let alone anything else.

Re: Refusing to take oath under Mushy

What happens to the ppl that don't go to take oath from him? Can anyone else administer their oath?

From the news, it seems like PM will be the only one going there on his own.

Re: Refusing to take oath under Mushy

Mushy can decide to go on a nice foreign state visit. That will make Chairman Senate as the acting President, who can then administer oath from the new cabinet. However, this is just hypothetical. Of course, Mushy will never go out of country, at this point. Unless, of course, he is going for good. Because otherwise he will be gone for good. :D

Re: Refusing to take oath under Mushy

I agree. Don't expect Mush to go on those long foreign tours. :D

Re: Refusing to take oath under Mushy

He never went on long tours....compared to the likes of BB/Zardari/NS ,who have built palaces in UK/USA etc.

Re: Refusing to take oath under Mushy

zahir si baat hay yaar, 3-4 din mai agar koi millions uRa de to LONG tours kahan se karay gaa :D

Re: Refusing to take oath under Mushy

Khaam Khiyaali hai :D
Did you guys forget those days, when your same lot were crying that how BB/Zardari/NS etc were looting the country..Well you won't have to wait much as you would see those days coming back pretty soon.
