reflect upon this!!

Asalaam’ Alaykum. Last night we had a halaqa in which i was reading a short article by Shaykh Abu Muhammad al Maqdisi(may Allaah(swt) hasten his release) Called “Advice Regarding Ubudiyah(servitude)” in which he explain how to be the Perfect Slave of Allaah and what this slave should possess.

Anyway thought id share a little bit with you lot.

I found this to be amazing…

On Page 14 he wrote** "The Salaf used to say “Verily A slave might commit a sin by which he will enter into the Gardens of jannah and he might do a righteous deed by which he will enter into the blazing fire”**

Some people asked “How can that be?”

They replied " for that Sin, his two eyes do not cease from crying our of fear, worrying in solitude, fearful regretful, full of humility infront of his Lord, Hanging his Head between his hands, breaking his heart to him…so this sin of his, and this condition of his-is better than many acts of worship-by going through these situations, which brings about the happiness and tranquility of the slave and his success…til that sins becomes a cause for him to enter the gardens.

And perhaps he might do a righteous deed for which he will boast and continue to boast about it and feel pride and he will be astonished by it and far stretch this act by saying “i did such and such…” and he will inherit Haughtiness, pride and he will stretch until it becomes his destruction."

and the Shaykh went on to say that we should always turn our sins into mercy by asking for sincere forgivness as Allaah(swt) is the Oft Forgiving. once you have done that sin the devil believs he has won and destroyed you But as a slave of Allaah(swt) if you turn around and use that sin as a means of asking for 4gvness and not do that sin ever again Maybe the Enemy of Allaah(swt) will say “Woe to me, had i left alone and not let him sinned maybe he would not have asked for forgivness which took him away from me”.

amazing isnt it?

Re: reflect upon this!!

Can we stop it with this "slave" business? I mean, we all know that we need to worship and obey God, but constantly calling muslims "slaves"...its almost like mind control on the part of maulvis.

How to be a good slave...you know, you can always say "how to be a good muslim"...its less demeaning.

Re: reflect upon this!!

how is it demeaning to be the Slave of Allah ?

Re: reflect upon this!!

One should learn Arabic to really understand Quran. This is so true for only a person reading the word "Ab'd" or "Ibaad" would know how it refers to a person as slave in the very language.

Reading a lose translation in english and thinking one's ownself as Allama of the Book is ridiculous to say the least.

Re: reflect upon this!!

*demeaning? infront of Allah? *

Re: reflect upon this!!

Do educate us.

Re: reflect upon this!!

While the Holy Prophet :saw: kept calling himself a slave of Allah again and again, you believe it’s demeaning…

**Hadith - Bukhari 4.654, Narrated Umar, r.a.

I heard the Prophet saying, “Do not exaggerate in praising me as the Christians praised the son of Mary, for I am only a slave. So, call me the Slave of Allah and His Apostle.”
**

This is Isa :as:,
**019.030
PICKTHAL: He spake: Lo! I am the slave of Allah. He hath given me the Scripture and hath appointed me a Prophet,
**
So, are you somehow better than the Prophet :saw:? I have no doubt in my mind, with this question, wheels must have clicked in your mind about maybe you might be…

You are not…

It is precisely for this reason that one gains knowledge so he knows what he is talking about and has less of a chance of making a fool of oneself…

Re: reflect upon this!!

Subhan'Allaah pcg. i posted an article about HOW to be a a good slave which helps u2 become a better Muslim!! if u wanna stop this "slave business then u might aswell take out the verses of the Qur'aan and hadith abt slaves as it is based upon Qur'aan and Sunnah. instead of reflecting upon how merciful Allaah(swt) is u choose to start an argument off.

can we not have a thread where we can reflect??

Re: reflect upon this!!

faisel, just ignore her.

btw: great thread :k:

Re: reflect upon this!!

Isn't it a temptation to commit a sin and then ask for mercy??

Re: reflect upon this!!

well it depends on yr intention. once cannot go around now thinkin "all i have to do is commit a sin and ask for mercy and im sorted" Rather he should repent and not Return to that sin or any sin for that matter.
