So , Living in a cold country , I am keen to redecorate my bedroom to give it a nice and cozy yet elegant look .. Its a large room and has wood flooring ( oak ) … What color suggestions do you advise ?
Use of two or three colors ?
I am trying to stay away from neutral and browns and grays , since current theme is that … so keen on getting something that is a bit more colourful and fresh ..

can you kheench a naksha of your room like can you define a bit more/detail? for eg
1-where is the room entrance?
2-what is there in your north,south side ..
3-what kind of decoration pieces/wall frames you have?
4- colors are you using currently?
5-what kind of a furniture (& color) you have?
6-( a )color of curtains? ( b )color of walls,doors and rugs( if u have any) etc etc
only then i would be able to give you some suggestion regarding what kind of changes you can make ...

Instead of redecorating the whole room,why not just ring the changes with some sumptuous bedding?...in the winter I have a darker duvet cover with a velvet runner at the bottom of the bed...use lots of cushions and pillows and maybe get one of those big tasselly tie backs for the curtains.You can also get some matching glassware too,like pot pourri bowls or candle holders..

^ she’s looking for bedroom ideas and i don’t think maroons and oranges are very restful colours unless used as accents. but thats just me

consider a large rug under the bed that extends past the edges of the bed a few feet.
heavy drapes also look sumptuous, you could get heavy silk or velvet ones. ikea actually has some lovely velvet curtains and its something you can easily replace in the spring. a plush comforter, lots of accent pillows would also help.
how about painting an accent wall a dark colour like a deep brown or deep navy blue? both are surprisingly restful colours, as is charcoal.
an upholstered headboard, a fancy chandelier- both of these would add drama.
ooh, a fur throw on the bed? so cosy!
