Red Lengaa

In Pakistan is a Red Lenga for your wedding absolutly a must?? I have never seen a wedding with a girl wearing a lengaa other than any type of red?? is this just a custom??

Re: Red Lengaa

That is not true... I have seen grils wearing all other colors aswell... one of my cousins had a mehndi green with purpleish pink and it was beautiful...another one had a bottle green... it really depends on person to person.

Re: Red Lengaa

Not really. I wore bright pink.

Re: Red Lengaa

In Pakistan, maybe.. but outside of Pk, girls wear almost any color besides black!

Re: Red Lengaa

yeah i always wondered why MOST brides choose to wear red on their wedding day. i guess its a traditional color which represents something? who knows, but since red it SO not my color im not planning on wearing it on my wedding!

Re: Red Lengaa

^ yeah its not my colour either so i didnt wear it although my mom really wanted me to... she was insisting, no, red is THE colour for brides but then really, outdoors in 35 degrees C in red? i think not. on the other hand, my MIL wanted me to wear white... so i compromised and chose tan/green.

what colour will you wear pinklove?

Re: Red Lengaa

im guessing Pink :p

Re: Red Lengaa

^hehe..im not sure what color to wear on my wedding day! i was thinking maybe peach with bronze/dull gold kaam. but lets see.

Re: Red Lengaa

i love this peachy color

Re: Red Lengaa

thats underwear not lenga style!

Re: Red Lengaa

huh?

Re: Red Lengaa

that's a cute color, but i think darker/deeper colors (not necessarily red) are more suited for wedding day...and valima is for lighter colors like that one. But to each their own :)

Re: Red Lengaa

trueee
what colors do you think would look nice for the wedding day, besides for the typical red/maroon/gold?

Re: Red Lengaa

Me? I like deep pink/magenta.. fuschia... violet, burgundy, emerald green, sapphire, eggplant purple, even turqoise or aqua....with lighter colors as accents, like, a magenta with baby pink or burgundy and eggplant purple with gold..i can think of so many color combos! I mean red or maroon is traditional and will never go out of style...but sometimes the **idea **of it gets boring (not to say that those dresses are!)...

Re: Red Lengaa

actually maroon wouldnt b too bad. like a really rich maroon with a champagne color. red would look horrible on me so i wont even think about wearing it.

Re: Red Lengaa

Red or maroon lenghas in a darker shade seem to be just very traditional in Pakistan. My wedding is at the end of this week, and my lengha is going to be dark red, and I’m not even Desi, just a gori marrying a Paki guy! My SILs picked it out for me.:mash:

Re: Red Lengaa

^ well congratulations! :)
i hope you post some pics later on cos i know we'd all love to see!

Re: Red Lengaa

^yes! congratulations meena!

Re: Red Lengaa

thats funny as i rarely see a bride wearing red, alot of the lahori girls are more contemporary and high fashion wearing lots of colours - colours which suit them. The UK is now finally steering away from red also............copying the pakistan trend of course. In lahore i rarely saw many bridal pics who were wearing red. ppl are feeling more confident in wearing what suits them and not the tradition. After all its ur wedding day we wear what we bloody want! LOL
