Have you ever tried experimenting with your designer lawn outfits from previous years ? They all have nice silk borders/pattiyaan and embroidered necklines/patches and nice chiffon dupattas that can be reused on new outfits ?
My new So Kamal shirt was RUINED to death last year after I wore in only ONCE It was accidentally washed by the maid with one of my kids’ red shirt that bled colour onto mine. I loved it SO much and now when I bought fabric to transfer the borders, etc to make a new shirt with its dupatta and borders, I want to do the same with some other lawn dresses of mine ( SS, LSM, Elan etc from last 2-3 years) too that are ‘purani collection’ outfits that dont fit anymore or the lengths/styles of shirts are not according to current fashion.
Has anyone tried doing that here ? (I know it is hard for the overseas ladies doing it but we have many members from paksitan too who have easy access to tailors/fabric shops).
My nani used to cut out laces and borders from khamizes and use it on other clothes. My sisters, mom and I do the same but so far all the galas and laces are just in our collection, unused. Ps the laces used on clothes in the 90s and early 00s are still in awesome condition!
I haven't done any thing to my dresses but I do have many ideas that I may execute when I visit Pak!
These designer lawns have nice embroidery galas, so cut them and use it for the future like if you decide to make a plain black chickan khamiz, get the gala sewed on. Take ur designer lawn's silk duppata and get panels on your black khamiz. Stuff like that.
Or you can cut a embroidery daman if it's on your khamiz and sew it on to another khamiz to extend its length!
Long duppatas can be made in to a khamiz as well, or combination of an old duppata and another cloth to make a shirt piece. If the duppata is silk (like SS type), you can make pretty damans out of it.
I got a Gul Ahmed full embroidery jora once and it's duppata is beautiful! Full of embroidery and it's based on white color so I plan to keep that duppata to match it with other joras or simple plain khamizes when the original khamiz gets old.
^ awesome ideas. I have loadsss of unused stuff too and I have promised myself no more sopping for full suits' fabric and bring the ones I have into use already
yeah same here. i have so many lawn joras. it has every possible pant color. white, red, black, blues, green- i feel like just making simple printed/plain shirts now and using them with those lawn joray pants and matching duppatas. i wish it was possible to buy lawn stuff without the shalwar material!!
yes I want to do the same, I have lawn from 2009 with short shirts and chiffons dupattas, either I wear them now as short shirts are in fashion again.
and I have suits who are worn out but their silk/chiffons dupattas are intack as I dont wear them at home, so the question what to do with the dupattas only.
Proto bless you for this thread,I have many designer lawn dresses which I’m repeating this year also,
can we post pics of the dress and other members give idea like what n how to do
I'm getting it done right now... Previously used embroided patches will be used on a new qamiz( actually the plain fabric was supposed to be a shalwar lol).
I've also used leftover fabrib from shirts to make qamiz for my 3 yr old daughter... Love being all matched up :D
lovely ideas !!! I recycled a few clothes of mine. i made new silk shirt for my digital print silk siut the shirt was ruined so i kept duppata n shalwar n made new shirt. I made long night gowns for me and my daughter from lawn dupattas its just so comfortable. My mom loved one of my palachi n silk print dupatta so I gave it to her and she made a new siut .for the siuts i didnt fit in I am trying to loose n fit in them :D
