Recycling Bridal Outfits!

Ideas, please ladies! I would love to see how would you create a whole new outfit using pieces from your wedding attire. Want to re-wear my outfit but not as a lehnga.

This is not her bridal outfit but it could be a good way to flaunt that intricate dupatta with a longer shirt surely. Not a fan of that short top, though. Like the dupatta.

What do you think?

Re: Recycling Bridal Outfits!

Though i agree with the concept of recycling a bridal dress, tanisha up there looks absolutely ridiculous.

IF somone really wants to make multiple uses of hteir wedding dress, I’d advise them to get a not so heavy duputta and a longer shirt. that way, they can make a plain outfit for the duputta, and a seperate pair of trousers for the shirt.

I have an idea of making a saree out of my duputta, or at least making a saree for my blouse (its pretty short and plain except for kaam on teh sleeves). Now its just finding a good darzi to do it. :bummer:
I dont think i will get any use out of my lengha because its so heavy.

Re: Recycling Bridal Outfits!

I've never heard of this idea... I know my mom still has her lehnga, but when would you wear it again? I mean, it has memories and I wouldn't want to give it away...... What do you guys suggest?

totally agree it is something related to your memories ...i wont change the lehenga :)

i like to keep my clothes that have special memories so same wl go for my wedding dress. And def no such experiments with it though i think its a good idea to be smart abt it when u r getting the dress made i.e dont go for a very short shirt. i think we can always reuse the longer shirt with a new shalwar n even use the same duppata if its someone close's wedding or something. so yah.

Re: Recycling Bridal Outfits!

if you have a longer top....then get plain pants or plain sharara or the faliry pants

but if you have a short top...then get a plain sari with some stones on the whole sarii and have ur top as the blouse?
ur not changing anything... right

i would defn do that

Re: Recycling Bridal Outfits!

I want to use my wedding dress...but don't know how.....
I read once that someone put her dupatta on the wall in her dining room...damn isn't that tooo much?????
Further yeah....memories...Nice to show your kids what you wore on your wedding day!

Re: Recycling Bridal Outfits!

Those shoes and them shiny pants!!!

Re: Recycling Bridal Outfits!

i have a problem with even the idea of twisting my wedding dress. when i see threads in the bazaar section of women selling their wedding dress, at first i think .. well ... smart ... but the next moment i find myself tying a stronger, bigger rope around my wedding dress!
MINE, MINE, MINE! (elmyra jessia duff style!)

too much emotional attachment, and memories ... i want to show my kids my wedding dress man!

dont sell it man !!!!
NOOOOO

Re: Recycling Bridal Outfits!

With longer shirts in vogue, I think it is pretty easy to re-wear expensive outfits rather than keeping them in storage.

I know right? Hehehe, I get very, very possesive of my things and don’t like to give them away, especially if it’s something that meaningful! I sorta like the idea of a short kurta turned into a sari, but really, all these ideas would work since fashions come back every decade or so…I think my mom might wear her valima dress or baraatdress at my wedding… :smack:

that would be so sweet

Re: Recycling Bridal Outfits!

why not frame the dupatta so it becomes a piece of art in your home?

Re: Recycling Bridal Outfits!

You have to have a huge room where the long framed dupatta would hang or can you frame it folded expertly?

Re: Recycling Bridal Outfits!

having a bridal with a long shirt means you can make a churidaar to go with it or a simple lehnga to go underneath instead of a gharara.
