Recycling Bridal Dupatta

I’m thinking to encase my bridal dupatta in an elegant glass frame and mount it against one of the dining room walls. anyone have any other reusable ideas?

Re: Recycling Bridal Dupatta

Wow that’s certainly a unique idea.

I was thinking of having a plainer suit made to match mine but i think ur idea is cooler :halo:

Re: Recycling Bridal Dupatta

you won't be using it again, bharysh?
i'm planning to definitely wear my dress again so no mounting for me!

Re: Recycling Bridal Dupatta

wow that does sound like a geat idea

Re: Recycling Bridal Dupatta

am i the only one who thinks recycling any part of your bridal outfit is bad luck!!
i get teary eyed even thinking about it…

Are yiu going to wear it to your Brother's wedding?

I’m not superstitious like that.. I am going to recycle my whole dress.

i'm hoping since its such a light color and mostly tone on tone kaam that i might be able to wear it to his engagement. his to-be's family/friends circle is pretty big so i think it'll be a big enough affair. i actually want to make a new shirt/dupatta for my mom's wedding gharara which is old school gold and shocking pink banarsi- this, of course, is if his bride is not wearing pink. if she is, then i'll get one made in another color.

what're you planning on doing with yours YP?
i can't recycle my dress even after i've worn it several times- i'm way too sentimental.

thats a great idea, i never throught of that....im gonna tell my sister couz she just got marrried, but i'm gonna get a really light weddding dress made so i can rewear it with a shalwar :)

i want to make a sari out of mine

Re: Recycling Bridal Dupatta

im gona wear mine to my brother-in-laws wedding =).. and i cant wait!!!

Re: Recycling Bridal Dupatta

pf-- how?? its obv not a 6 gaz ka dupatta
add it to the pallu only?

Re: Recycling Bridal Dupatta

^ Ooo is that possible (to add fabric to the duputta to make it a saree)?? i'd love ot do that w/ mine.

omg u all have awesome recycling ideas!

and no, i didn't think it was bad luck...it's more like preserving that recycling i suppose.

yaar- i wish i could wear it to bhai's shaadi...leykin larki milo tho sahey!

actually- it's quite heavy and i wouldn't want repeat pics. i'm only planning to wear the original outfit when retaking photos with my hubby in a few months. we want to get some shots in scenic places and the retire the set.

hmm...i guess i could wear the outfit with a lighter dupatta or something.

thanx guys!

Re: Recycling Bridal Dupatta

See if you have HEAVY bridal duppata, it would be a fantabulous and unique idea, but if it's light (kaam on borders) then framing it look odd, nhi?

wont it get all dirty! and u have to wash it more often... then u normally do......... i would prefer making a suit with it............. or a saree if possible. ............ but hanging on a wall... especially dinning room............ no from me.

u never know... ur kids can go and clean their hands with the duppata. :$

Re: Recycling Bridal Dupatta

I think framing bridal dupattas is a great idea...Ive seen it done on a couple of shows with banarsi sarees too...

it would be framed behind glass, is my impression. so therefore, it wouldn't be touchable and would stay clean.

That's what I did. :D

Of course, I felt a bit weird because my suit and my new SIL's were made by our MIL and pretty similar when you put them next to each other (eventho they were made at different boutiques...). I hadn't seen them side by side.

But it was cute :D

subbo- uh, it's gonna be in glass...so, no touchee touchee!

i didn't want anyone else wearing red on my wedding day so i would stand out...so i wouldn't think it's fair to wear my outfit on someone else's wedding. at least not with all the colors together, maybe break up the outfit and create 2 different ones. and then anchor it with some of the other colors in the suit..like silver or gold.
