Recruitment

I’ve done a couple of these before, hunting heads and trying to gauge a persons ability over a short period of time. I’ve got one coming up in a couple of days where I’m off to a forum sponsored by my company for PhD graduates. They’ll perform for a day then a half day of interviewing the short-listed candidates before we move onto the second round.

Instead of getting together a panel this time I’m doing it solo as the prospective people would be working within my team, initially anyway. Thing is though it’s never easy narrowing down 150 people down to 20 for the second round. And then ultimately to 2 or 3.

I know what I look for other than technical ability, what are your key must have’s? Stacked aint an option as that is pretty obvious.

How about just ditching the applicants and hiring me :D and I do free car wash and groccery shopping too.

hmcq,

I'm sure you could do much better fella! (what's your field and background again, I'll check in the intro thread).

But you reminded me why I posted this in the first place, comes with age this senility.

Well the thing is I have a good freind who I was at uni with, bright bloke who went into research but is up for the interviews I don't want to be any different with him than I am with anyone else, but he sort of expects an easy ride after a phone call to me the other day.....hope he's just kidding.
