Re: recovering files
Try this:
TestDisk - have tried and tested myself.
and succesfully recovered a NTFS partition. Which was removed due to some disk error.
It runs in a DOS command window. So not really click and play but does the job well :k:

Re: recovering files
^^ Tum parhtay purhtay nahin ho gizzy mian. Saieen already suggested that and he tried it already and it didn't work.
Re: recovering files
don’t know why it didn’t work for you. i have tired this program twice and both times was able to recover the lost data [which i lost due to formatting the HD] without losing a single file. its not the most-user-friendly program [DOS] but it does work perfectly. :k:
Re: recovering files
lol I just skimmed thru the thread.. well scrolled down slowly. :halo:
it should work, if nothing else works, then you know what time it is.. and start looking some other solutions.
I think in this case Easy Recovery pro should work.
Re: recovering files
But the man ain't got no coin (or doesn't want to spend any)!
Re: recovering files
Easy recovery professional can UNFORMAT a disk as well.. Have tried it several times.
But yeah it aint available for free, but i m sure a lil google can bring you a fully working version.
Re: recovering files
If the recovery brought up files you had been working with a year ago, then I am afraid there isn't much you can do now. Windows has a funny way of writing to disk, so it is possible your newer files may have already been lost. Recovery programs may also produce "Frankenstein", in that, half of the file may be old and half new, or even a clobbered up version of two files. It depends on what had happened during the write.
You said you quickformatted the drive.
What happened, and why were'nt you making incremental backups of your work on CD/DVD if they were that important and long-term?
i was installing windows, instead of C: windows choose g: drive i dont know why and even I didnt checked and went through pressing next next
it was after the installation i realized, where the heck is my data!
Re: recovering files
ya i have managed to recover all the files from a lost partition from another drive lol, but the formatted one showing the new files now
