I can’t record audio using Audacity :frowning: I’ve googled and googled and googled and played around with the Windows sound device settings as well as Audacity settings but it still isn’t picking up any sound from the built-in or the external mic. Actually, it does pick up some sound but it’s super low… I’ve tried increasing the mic volume to 100% and it still doesn’t work!

System is XP Professional and audio driver is Realtek which I downloaded from Acer’s website. So… where am I going wrong? Are there other better softwares that I could try? I tried Windows Sound Recorder too but it’s not picking up sound either so it’s not just Audacity.

I’ve to get my mic working for Chat too! =(

System tray volume icon → Right click and choose ‘Adjust audio properties’ → Click ‘Audio’ tab → Default sound recording device should read ‘Realtek’ → Underneath you should see the ‘Volume’ tab, click on it → Move the volume slider to the top → Make sure all the “mute” options are unchecked.

Now unplug the external and test with just the internal mic, if it doesn’t record, plug in the external and see if that gets you going.
