I think it varies state to state and afaik you cannot record or tape anyone without informing them first

Does that apply to public officials who routinely perform their job in view of public? I know where you’re coming from on this. It is in fact a law that some states enforce according to the article. But how can a citizen inform an officer during the course of questionable behavior that he/she intends to record for the sake of evidence?
