Reconstruction - The Quake Zone

I realize its a bit early to think about the reconstruction of the quake zone…because the first priority is to save on what we have to reconstruct…that means lives…giving comfort to victims by one or the other means…we all know that still has lot to be done…the aid is pouring in at snails pace in the remote areas…we neem to be creative to cope with this massive problem if we cannot do it by our existing means…

In the meantime…the NATO (North Atlantic Treary Org) has jumped in to do some…still not enough…Pak Army is on foot to reach the remote affectees…great…

Our government says some 5 billion dollars will be needed to reconstruct the quake zone…while my intial guess was around 10 billion dollars…and the money is not that easy pouring in…sofar only 637 million dollars pledged by various donnars…not yet cashed…

My point is that…we some 5 million expatriates living outside Pakistan…contribute as aid or even taking part as business in reconstruction…can we send some 1200 dollars on year base in 2006…this sum should be good enough to surpass the 5 billion requirement…why not…I think we can do it… :jhanda: :jhanda:

Re: Reconstruction - The Quake Zone

i dont trust our govt....i think instead of sending money. private orgs should head down there and help people out personally. govt can continue with aid from other govts...

Re: Reconstruction - The Quake Zone

Pakistan's spends over $17 billion on it's military, 5% of it's GDP, cutting that and putting it towards reconstruction would be the right thing to do.

Re: Reconstruction - The Quake Zone

^^ Thats not true...Pakistan spends around 3 billion dollars per year on defence to maintain and meet the strain...thats mininal to deter some aggression again...

Re: Reconstruction - The Quake Zone

Please do send some money…to government or some orgs…

In the end …what the victims count…and fast…

Re: Reconstruction - The Quake Zone

Yes, the country cannot live on flower-power.

I couldve said more but let me edit it.
