Recommended Protein Supplements

Salam,

Which protein supplement do you use? Whey or Soy? Soy has kinda scared me ever since Niksik’s thread

but isn’t whey fattening? And I also heard creatine may turn you into a female :stuck_out_tongue: and glutamine may contain some non-halal ingredients?

What is effective for you? Because I have no idea what to take after my workout.

Re: Recommended Protein Supplements

dude eat chicken/beef/fish/egg-white.

why going after supplements when real stuff taste better ?

Re: Recommended Protein Supplements

We have always used whey protein. Halal. Read the ingredients or call the company. When my daughter was little, I was asked to put some protein powder in her milk. It was excellent and we still use it off and on.

Re: Recommended Protein Supplements

Glutamine and creatine is not considered protein supplement.

Take Whey protein.. it digests faster than any other protein type..

But as K_A said .. try getting ur protein from real food and if u cant get enuff protein only then have urself protein shakes.

Re: Recommended Protein Supplements

which protein brand would you guys recommend?..

muscle tech
muscle milk
optimum nutrition?..

my stack is about to finish..i've been using optimum nutrition 100% whey... want to try something else that gives me more of pure protein.. any other brand that has more protein per scoop and taste better like optimum nutrition?

Re: Recommended Protein Supplements

I got my supply from a friend who is a distributor of health care products. It was excellent.

muscle milk IMO...tastes better and easy to digest then the other stuff.

Crescent...i recommend muscle milk to you as well...but as some others said...it's always best to consume fresh foods rich in lean protein as oppose to taking supplements. I take protein supplements at least once a day because I just cant eat much throughout the day. If you are a good eater then you wont need it.

I remember you asked this in your body-building thread also.

Angel Eyes said it best. Muscle Milk is easier to digest. However, the optimum nutrition is perhaps the only one which does not contain suclarose. The rest of them do. I have seen the ingredients of Muscle Milk - which, as a side note, looks delicious - and it contains that. Research on this ingredient for a bit. It will tell you how bad can Suclarose is once it is inside your body.

I believe Iori Yagami also mentioned that almost all brands will give you relatively the same amount of proteins per scoop, more or less.

Walikum Assalam. Whey is not fattening at all, I don’t think. A whey supplement has one of the lowest fat calories in all of products (non-fat excluded).

As a side note, I am using this bottle of Pure Karbolyn - it has 50 grams of complex carbs and the best time to take it, from what I have researched and tried, is 10-15 minutes before your biceps/shoulder weight training. It will give you maximum boost.

And as FrozenFire mentioned, a protein shake right after.
