I need a pretty basic MP3 Recorder, at least 1GB.. has to be very reliable.. looks are not an issue.. smallish size preferred but not a deal breaker. Hookup via USB 2.0 on PC..
what are my options?

IPODs are always a good choice.. but if you want somethig else try the SONY mp3 players.. I hav e always bought sony products and they are great.. the mp3 ones they have are small, good quality ofcourse (its Sony afterall) and are VERY eazy to use.. they look 2 fkin cool 2.. they have many smalllish shapes.. with diff storage sizes and diff battery methods.. check em out on their website..

Get one of those Creative Muvo’s. They are smallish and then to connect to the PC the black part unplugs from the case and becomes like a USB thumb drive. Very convenient.

There is no way what TofiBaba linked will cost anywhere near $90.
Look at the Creative V100 if you want 1gb. Less than 50USD. Dirt cheap. Amazing value. Gave a few to uni students back in Pakistan. Perfect for recording lectures.

the reviews are kinda scary.. my first and foremost consideration is voice recording.. i really don't need it to play downloaded MP3 and other crap..

thanks.. but the reviews still don't say much about the voice recording quality.. I'm gonna explore this further.. and also the Creative Muvo TX that Tofi suggested.

Why not the V100 I suggested? Meany.
The V100 has same features as the TX but it’s newer, is better built & cheaper @ $50 tops. You can plug it in directly like a USB stick as well.
If you want a voice recorder for lectures, dont even bother getting a MP3 recorder. They’re garbage unless you’re in the first row. Get a voice recorder if this is for lectures.

i have creative and it is nice....the only thing is that the battery doesn't last 6 to 8 hours...more like less than 4. And it doesn't have as many accessories as IPOD....u might be able to purchase some things online....but not in every store like the IPOD...
