Yahi tou dushwari hay, many do not know where to go from here. Just try to keep up and ignore people wanting you to change your avatar :D
Anyhow, from whom do you want to reclaim the country? When did you lost the country? As for the purpose of the country, it is to live there as free and equal citizen (this opportunity is not available to all).

SPEAKING AND INVITING TO SPEAK ABOUT PAKISTAN, FOLKS.

Re: RECLAIMING THE COUNTRY AND ITS PURPOSE OF BEING
In order to have a strong building, you need to have a strong base. When the leaders themselves are out there to eat people and fill their own stomach, then you know equality amongst leaders and common citizens cannot be established. People can bash me all they want, but I am and Insha'Allah will be for Islamic State and Khalifah.
Re: RECLAIMING THE COUNTRY AND ITS PURPOSE OF BEING
it is a point, as a friend of mine says, where things will either change for the better or for the worst.
Re: RECLAIMING THE COUNTRY AND ITS PURPOSE OF BEING
Saleem,
the question is where do we go from here, in the context of the country's conditions.
but your emphasis - if this is the way you speak about your leaders, you are being not much help are you?
Re: RECLAIMING THE COUNTRY AND ITS PURPOSE OF BEING
^ exactly,
the nationhood of the Muslims needs to be inherently better, and not par up in demonstrating who can bad mouth whome, how much more.
corruption will take leave, only when all citizens will come to a common goal of a stable, peaceful state to create and maintain.
Re: RECLAIMING THE COUNTRY AND ITS PURPOSE OF BEING
And for that, we will and always will need unity. We should focus on the bigger picture rather than fighting over small things which might not even be fardh.
Re: RECLAIMING THE COUNTRY AND ITS PURPOSE OF BEING
^ this is so true and time is of essence because otherwise, the native and flying in vultures are merely waiting, as to when the state falls apart internally so that they can all rule over it - as distant proxy state of their own and bring killing and terror to Pakistan and its people.
unity is essential as foremost thing to have in Pakistan.
Re: RECLAIMING THE COUNTRY AND ITS PURPOSE OF BEING
I agree with HHL. Our country may be name the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, but it ain't that Islamic, and the reason for being so is that no one has honestly tried to implement Islam as a system of life (which is what our deen is really about).
Inshallah, inshallah, inshallah one day it will revert to actually being an Islamic country but I cant see that happening in the near future (I pray I'm wrong!).
Dushi Ji, you wanted to know where its going, its going on the same track that Turkey went on a couple of decades ago, only in a more subtle manner; secularism. More and more Islam is something ppl do in their homes, or on fridays in a masjid (as if for a man, the only farz prayer in a masjid is on a friday!)
Unless we have a leader who is knowledgable in both deen and dunya, and practises that to his best... we will continue to go down this modernisation path, or as our leaders like to call it; moderate Islam!?! we need leaders who fear Allah in every single one of his actions, he is a public servent, but sadly in Pakistan, it seems to be the other way around :inteha'e afsoos waala peela aadmi:
Re: RECLAIMING THE COUNTRY AND ITS PURPOSE OF BEING
Pinks,
you have a partial point that is good to elaborate on i.e. no one has honestly tried to implement Islam as a system of life
and the hypocrisy that laminates the layers upon layers of good things which as a Muslim nation, can certainly be implemented and leave as a positive impression, as something to learn from, in the minds of those who are suspicious of faith of the Muslim people and also their lands.
Taking the instance of Pakistan, granted that there are so many things to take care of politically, economically and socially, yet, the onus is and ought not to be only on the govt, the people must claim their power based on their rights as nation's members and also fulfill their own part in making a strong nation.
best,
Dushwari
Re: RECLAIMING THE COUNTRY AND ITS PURPOSE OF BEING
The article below, to a great extent has captured what Prof Akbar Ahmed has been presenting in his books and talks, as to what is happening internationally with Muslim countries and what is needed for the Ummah to rise above.
any thoughts?

I'm with you and i'll tell you why.
Bitter as it maybe, but atleast justice will be served where its needed, and no special favors given to anyone.
Because it'll be one universal rule across the board.
Because we've tried all the rest and it never worked, at this point most ppl will do anything BUT what the past has brought.
When people fear the just punishment, they won't commit the crime to begin with, whether it's petty crime like shoplifting or national crime like corruption.
Because it works bests for the people since there is no 'pyramid structure' where one person on top benefits from all underneath.
I just hope, and pray, and duaa, whatever comes, comes soon and for the better because the nation is soooo corroded, one more small strike and it'll chip and fall off like a cookie crushed under hammer.
As for the topic directly!...the purpose of this nation being was to have a Muslim nations that follows the laws laid thereby within the constitution. It was meant to be a haven for all peaceful people who could feel comfortable because the rulers were muslim, and thus 'Just', but it's been quite the opposite. Everyone that has come into power has defined his/her definition of Pakistan. quite appropriately it's very unPakistan at the moment, and has been for quite some time now.
My solutions in addition to what HHL said very well, are:
1. Absolutely do not let the previous leaders return to power under any conditions, promises, whatsoever.
2. Bring in new people, and elect them based on their ideology and education, not what family they come from.
3. Strengthen N.A.B. and give it extra powers over politicians so it's not deterred by their powers, so they may act accordingly and set the politicians straight if they're out of line.
4. If a person commits a crime that ends up in High Court, he/she is no longer a valid candidate for any public office, because of their conviction and tainted characteristic in the light of national law.
5. Army may not interfere in politics, ever.
6. Education gets a bigger budget, educated people will make better leaders.
7. Make it possible for people to get jobs after their education so they stay patriotic to the country and not flee to serve another nation with all their talents, as has been done in the past because people are not appreciated in the very nation that they call home.
Re: RECLAIMING THE COUNTRY AND ITS PURPOSE OF BEING
^ Very good points. I agree and we have the example of it from 1400 years ago and onward so people cannot cry about how they are not sure if this system will work or not. Circumstances change, people change, but that does not change Islam. Islam is meant to fit in every circumstance. It is and will remain the same.
Regarding your point about leaders have absolute power: take the example of previous Khalifahs. When people like Abu Bakr and Umar (R.A) used to be in middle of Khutba, others would interrupt them if they said something wrong or would question the khalifahs and put them on trial if they saw something wrong (unfortunately, if you were to say something like this to our so-called "Islamic" leaders, you might be thrown in jail or something). All this was based on the Rules & Regulations were laid out by Allah Almight. Thus, the leaders felt a burden on their shoulders as long as they were holding that seat. They took this seat as a big responsibility as head of the affairs of all the muslims and others who might be living there. Abu Bakr and Umar (R.A) did not fight for the seat so that they could live a lavish and luxury life and become rich by occupying the seat.
Justice was served because the khalifah would put other people ahead of themselves and their own family. Justice was also served because they did not have abosulte power because even THEY were and had to follow shariah when making decisions. The khalifahs did not get a VIP treatment and a private jet with presidential mansion while others didn't even have a car or a house to live in.
You can do all the halaqahs that you want, you can open all the charity organisations that you want, you can open all the masjids that you want but the fact will still remain there that unless you have a Khalifah and Islamic State, anyone can come up to you, slap you and you will be standing there looking at them and will not able to do much.
Re: RECLAIMING THE COUNTRY AND ITS PURPOSE OF BEING
it's kindda catch22 situation here, sometimes in life you have to step back to move farward. As a nation we are in exactly same situation. we have to sacrifice some freedom for a greater good. Personaly I would prefer a lesser evil over a monstrous devil (religious extremism). some people clear fail to gauge the implications of a weak democratic government which is blackmailed by a FRACTIONAL but very ACTIVE part of society.
