Reciting surah in namaz...

Please tell me:

1- if i can recite half surah in a salah. For example,in fajar prayer, can i recite first half of surah mulk in the first rakat and then recite surah al-falak in the second rakat? or i have to complete one whole surah in one rakat?

2- Can i recite any surah from the middle till the end in namaz?

Thankyou.

Re: Reciting surah in namaz...

As far as I know, you CAN recite half surah in one rakat and you can choose to recite a totally different surah in the 2nd rakat.
Also you CAN recite any surah from middle till the end.

The minimum recommended length of recitation is of surah Kauthar. This however does NOT mean that you have to recite atleast three verses. It means that the portion of recitation should be equal or more to surah Kauthar. Several verses of Quran are of enough length that reciting only 1 verse can be enough.

Another recommended thing is to recite surahs in the order they appear in the Quran. However, I am not sure if its a hard set rule or just a recommendation.

Re: Reciting surah in namaz...

recitation of a minimum of 3 aayaats is required in one rak'at. the sequence of suras is important but if you can't then it's NOT a sin.

Re: Reciting surah in namaz...

thank you...it means that i can recite any part of any surah in any rakat...correct me if wrong...

Re: Reciting surah in namaz...

yes, but it's NOT recommended!

Re: Reciting surah in namaz...

Why not?
Thats what happens in jamaat all the time. The imam at our masjid recites verses from the Quran from any location (surah), so long as the verses are in succession.

Re: Reciting surah in namaz...

that's what i meant...i meant the descending succession of aayaats/suras is important and recommended but if missed by accident then it's NO sin!

recommendation means it's better to do it that way and that's what i said that it's not recommended to recite out of sequence aayaats/suras.
