Recipie for Karahi Chicken

I’m looking real karahi Chicken recipie.

1 pound boneless/skinless chicken cubed
1 green pepper, chopped
1 large onion, sliced
3 medium size tomatoes, chopped
1 teaspoon garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ginger, minced
2 cloves
1 large cardamom
1 small cardamom
2 inch cinnamon stick
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
2 tablespoons cooking oil
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a deep pan, add cloves, cardamoms and cinnamon stick, let them sizzle. Add chicken, garlic and ginger paste. Fry for about ten minutes. Empty all the ingredients in a plate/bowl.
Add another tablespoon of oil and add sliced onions. Fry them until light brown. Add chopped green peppers and tomatoes. Fry the mixture for about 5 minutes, then add chili powder, garam masala, turmeric and salt. Mix all the spices in the onion mixture. Add the chicken to the pan and gently mix everything together with a slotted spoon. Sprinkle cilantro and cover the pan to simmer for about ten minutes. The sauce will thicken and then it is ready to serve with pulao.

PS I found this recipe online, but it seems about right.

Ingredients
1 kilo chicken
2 tsp ginger paste
2 tsp garlic paste
salt according to taste
1 tsp freshly crushed black pepper
1/2 tsp red chili powder
5-6 tomatoes (medium size)
3-4 whole green chilies
4 tbs oil
Method

  1. This dish is best cooked in a Wok (Karahi) but you can use a regular pot if you don't have a Wok.
  2. Add the chicken in a pot with garlic & ginger and leave on medium heat for the water to dry.
  3. When the chicken has softened add everything, including the oil, except green chilies & tomatoes.
  4. Increase the heat to dry water if any then add green chilies & tomatoes.
  5. Lower the heat and cook covered for 5-10 minutes.
  6. Then when the tomatoes have softened, increase the heat and evaporate all the water.
  7. The end result should be with very little gravy. *]Serve with Naan.

actually real authentic karhai chicken doesnt have onions in it.

ok then find "authentic' karahi chicken recipe...ive almost always had it with onions in any restaurant that ihave had it in...hmm

oh well i love achari chicken anyhow..not karahi

THE real karahi,,,well only salt,some red pepper,lots of tomatoes,green chillies,,thats it,,koee garam masala nahee koee piyaz nahee...if u go to frontier ,they never use piyaz wiyaz and ilayichi stuff
..yeh suub karachi aur lahore mai,,thats call balti gousht ,,(with piyaz and stuff)..we have friends from Trible area ....so thats what they use to make karahi,,,

i do make it in the same way its just this time i added one small size onion it does gives nice taste

yea but aunthentic karhai doesnt have onions in it.....onions just add a bit more masala i suppose.

Authentic Karahi chicken as mentioned above has no onions,no garam masala and chicken cut up in smaller pieces but with bone in. Also the same amount of tomatoes as the chicken so that is how you get the thicker gravy/masala. Key ingredients are green chillies, sliced ginger, tomatoes, salt, chicken, red chilli powder and lots and lots of stir frying in a karahi. Ohhh! Now i want to go to murree and have the karahi chicken the make on mall road in those dingy hotels!
