oo I made a dessert the other day… not sure if you’d call it a ‘recipe’ per se as I just threw some things together but I was praised like anything and it was the easiest thing in the world to make! ![]()
I got two sachets of Angel Delight (lol!) - chocolate and strawberry flavour, and layered them alternately in a dish, with layers of madeira cake and tinned fruit in between. I decorated the top with chocolate sprinkles and fresh strawberries. It was so yum and took like 20 mins, but was the highlight of the night!

It’s a dessert that comes in the form of a powder, where you add milk and whisk it to make it kind of like double-cream consistency. It tastes nice but it’s full of rubbish and along with tinned fruit and shop-bought madeira cake should not be eaten on a regular basis lol

It looks pretty but cake + some kind of custard mix + tinned fruit is a pretty standard desi dessert.

Butternut squash soup
- Cut squash into chunks and roast
- Sauté onions and garlic in oil
- Add roasted squash, and masala (ground cumin, pepper, chilli, salt)
- Add stock and bring to boil
- Blend, add double cream and serve.

Creamy chicken
Chicken breasts cut into thinner steaks
Olive oil
Fresh rosemary, chopped
Fresh parsley, chopped
Salt
Pepper
Cider vinegar (rather a lot)
Double cream about 100ml
Low salt veg stock cube
Oil to pan fry
Mix all the ingredients except cream and stock cube, and marinate chicken. I marinated overnight.
Heat a little oil in pan, fry chicken until cooked through and starting to brown. Drain and put aside. Add double cream into pan with chicken juices crumble in stock cube. Cook until starting to thicken. Add chicken back to pan and reduce until creamy and luscious.
I had it with roasted swede and tangy salad.
If I’d had mushrooms, I’d have chucked them in too.

^ what is double cream everyone keeps mentioning? is it half and half or heavy whipping cream found in the US?
