My Thanksgiving appetizers are these dumplings/hashbrowns with chicken, potatoes and spices. So I wanted to offset the crispy crunchy with a soup. But I didnt want to make a heavy one like Sweet corn and chicken.. I want a light clear broth (EASY TO MAKE) soup.
Any ideass… well ofcourse you guys have ideas!! you all ROCK!
sweet corn and chicken isn't heavy! at least not the way i make it..
anyways, if u want a really light soup i guess u could do miso? do ppl like it at ur house?
You can make the tom yum with veggies...chicken..anything
but it does have a nice little tangy kick and its usually spicy.
Hey hey turkey can be made desi....I have had a very delicious Tandoori Masala Turkey that was cooked well & very juicy...and this anti had a nice serving of creamed corn with it that tasted really good together. :)
and and spicy cranberry sauce...grr!
but tom yum soup would still have a fish and shrimp base, so if makrooh is an issue u will have to change recipe and take out shrimp paste, even if the meat u areusing is chicken.
the tom yum recipe i have does not use shrimp paste, fish sauce does the trick. i'm allergic to shrimp, so i wouldn't care to know what i'm missing :p as afrosheen said, u can put chicken in it instead of shrimp.
muniya, if u're gonna make rasam, it's easy peasy, just go with the MTR rasam packet, it's really good and has everything in it. it's hecka spicy though, so be careful. the packet says 1 cup of masala for 8 cups of water, just boil the stuff. what i do is, 3/4th cup masala with 7 cups of water and 1 cup of campbell tomato juice. i think it's best when it's mild/medium spicy.

Im having the south Indian make it from scratch
teehhhehehheheh
ah, nothing can beat that.. but much as i'm an advocate for "from scratch cooking", i have to say the MTR rasam mix is great... i don't like their other mixes much, but the rasam will rock ur palette!
