Re: Recently moved to UK
which visa have you acquired? If you are on a student visa, you must make friends from your college or uni.. i find you are a Muslim male by your name. You can make a lot of friends at Mosque and different Social Networks and Community Meetups.. :)

Good anyways. You have no relatives there? Why dont you join some classes for anything that you like?
Re: Recently moved to UK
if you are newly married, then dont worry, you will adjust soon, I hope! Initially you dont feel comfortable mingling with inlaws so easily… it may take a bit of time but things will get back to normal soon ![]()

Just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge how awesome it is that although new to a country and newly-wed perhaps, you're interested in building your own social life - outside of your husband and in-laws world. Good for you.
If you've had longterm friends back home, and you're genuine in building new relationships, you won't have too much difficulty.

Even she can go to mosque and religious gatherings to make friends. Mosque is not only for Muslim males in Britain.

Re: Recently moved to UK
Yeah ive moved near cntl london work for an insurance company n ive never really socialized at the mosque im not very religious but i guess worth a try thanks guys
Re: Recently moved to UK
You can try joining some kind of interest classes. Like for instances, if you like interior design, you can find local classes that offer interior design, or if you enjoy baking or decorating, you can join those classes. Or some dance classes, etc....any kind of class that you would be interested in as a social activity. You can meet people there. Also, if you enjoy reading, you can see if there are any local book clubs, that is a great way to meet people.
Also, even if you arent too religious, just going for jumma, or any sort of gathering at the mosque, you can still meet people there.
Good luck!!
Re: Recently moved to UK
I would suggest book clubs if you are into reading. Also, any women's or professional associations, clubs you might be interested in. If you like the crowd then you can be on a commitee and volunteer with them etc (different types of networking, event planning). Eg. There are women's professional networking associations, also committees that are attached to museums, art galleries and such that arrange events for people of different age groups.
Also, some sort of volunteering depending on the things that interest you. Also, is there any Meetup groups in your area? (Meetup.com) That's usually a great way to meet people interested in similar things and they have all women's meetups also. Good luck!
Re: Recently moved to UK
Welcome to London, I had the same issues, and i can say still finding hard to find quality friends. I found some when i was in Uni, some moved other cities, I have found some good ones from work place over the years. People in same profession or passion can be good friends!
Parameters of friendship in Pakistan and UK are quite different so you will learn attitude as you go along.
Re: Recently moved to UK
There are many friendly people here who are probably from around the same London area. If you are feeling a bit low, maybe they can give you company?
Also when your husband comes back from work try oing out and about with him, visiting the city etc...
