Rebels kill five Indian soldiers.

Why are there so many separatist movements in this bastion of civilization?

Five Indian border guards have been killed when separatist rebels opened fire on their patrol on a main road between the north-eastern state of Manipur and Burma.
Police said a foot patrol of the 37th battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) was attacked near Lokchao village on the road that connects the state capital, Imphal, with Burma.

Four border guards died on the spot and a fifth succumbed to his wounds in hospital.

The rebels carried away three assault rifles and two grenades.

A caller identifying himself as a spokesman for the outlawed Kanglei Kanna Yaol Lup (KYKL) rebel group, which says it is fighting for Manipur’s independence, claimed responsibility for the attack.

“It appears the KYKL ambushed the soldiers and killed them to make their presence felt,” C Peter Manipur’s additional director general of police said.

Attacks stepped up

Rebels in Manipur have intensified their attacks on security forces, particularly the BSF, ever since border guards launched a major offensive to capture the HQ of Manipur’s leading separatist group, the Manipur People’s Liberation Front (MPLF), in January.

The rebels said they beat back the border guards from their headquarters at Sajit Tampak on the India-Burma border.

Ever since then, the BSF particularly has been targeted by the rebels.

Analysts say rebels in Manipur have also stepped up their attacks because they are upset with Delhi’s ongoing negotiations with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN), a Naga rebel group which demands the incorporation of those parts of Manipur inhabited by ethnic Nagas within a greater Naga state.

Explain which are those 'so many' ?

Please get a low caste Hindu to do some searches for you on these boards to find the list. Happy hunting, you lazy Indian.

2b,

You should not talk bad about your ancestors. Majority of muslims in Indian subcontinent were coverts of low caste Hindus.

Why I asked you to define is - nobody has heard about the organization KYKL in the article above. National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) was a separatist group I agree. But they announced ceasefire with Indian Governement quite some time ago. As per the ceasefire Security foces are not hunting Naga rebels and Naga rebels are not not creating any trouble either.

The bone of contention is there are several areas in neighboring states which have presence of Naga tribals (including Manipur). They are afraid that Indian Govt is going to include all areas with Naga majority into one GREATER NAGALAND state to appease NSCN. They are not agreeing for ceasefire against Nagas in their states also.

Indias Northeast is tribal dominated and they are very sensitive about their traditional tribal rivalry than anything else. In this case Manipuris are protesting because they do not want Indian Govt to be lenient about Nagas. Do you consider this as Separatist movement ?

they killed 5 then das 10 kal paida hon jaieey gai the country has a population of over 1 billion it won't be short on soldiers it ain't a prob for indian military they'll just recruit more of the streets and take away a kids freedom like always
