Reasonable priced outfits please?

When I lived in Pakistan (upto last year) I used to buy ready made suits for around 3000 rupees max. Places like cynoption were my fav as they only charged 1200 rupees for an entire 3 piece suit.

For some strange reason no one wants to post their prices here (is it because they are giving different prices to different people?) but the price range one or two have given seem very expensive to me. For example $150 is approximately 9000 rupees. That seems extremely expensive to me as I have had karigaars in Pakistan make me really heavy work in 4000-5000 rupees.

Does anyone know of any designers or stores that can make my clothes with a 5000 rupees max price range? I prefer if someone makes me the clothes because I dont like thin material that can show body shape and most ready made clothes have this problem.

I am also looking for cynoption style clothes..thick material, very light work and matching dupatta for around the same price of 1200 rupees.

Re: Reasonable priced outfits please?

i doubt it coz not only the prices of labour, fabric has increased now but also custom clothes charge more than boutique or factory manufactures. Also whoever will do it for u will charge her comission from u n that will add up the price.
anways if someone knows of such a person i'll like their contact info as well

Re: Reasonable priced outfits please?

Just got off the phone with my MIL and she said cynoption is now charging 1700 rupees per outfit! (Still think thats cheaper than what most people are charging for casual clothes).

Re: Reasonable priced outfits please?

Re: Reasonable priced outfits please?

i never heard of cynoption...does it have anything to do with cynosure?

Re: Reasonable priced outfits please?

i have seen VERY few outfits here for 150.. most of them cost around 250 and above.. some even 350+ and aren't anything special, just loaded with mishmashed kaam which looks so OTT.
my aunt is a designer and while she charges me $150 - $200 (no discounts, price includes her profit) for clothes, i see the same type of outfits being sold here for $300+ which i find really shocking. i have heard from many people that you can get kaam done at gulf for much less so the question is, why do people charge such high profits, at times even more than the cost of outfit itself. im sure if the profit margin wasn't so high, vendors will definitely attract more customers.

I am already ordering some suits from there. The only thing I dont like about cynoption is that a lot of the suits have gaudy looking stuff on them like really large buttons! Not all of the jhora have this and you can get good stuff but you have to keep going to find good ones.

I dont know if cynoption and cynosure are the same. I remember another cyno something in Bahudurabad and I was told that they were owned by the same people but one store was for purely casual clothes and the other one on the main road was for semi formal wear.

Re: Reasonable priced outfits please?

I once inquired about an outfit, that had one price listed here (on GS), another price listed on a facebook group, and a third price given to me as a "quote"...tell me does that make any sense? I dont know about vendors, but peopel who buy particular outfits hesitate in sharing how much they paid b/c in the past alot of posters get REALLY nasty and totally insult someone's choice/spending patterns.......

Re: Reasonable priced outfits please?

i think it's b/c some people think that higher price automatically equals higher quality, which is not the case. I think ppl in the US are so use to higher prices they don't think lower prices can ensure a nice dress.

I agree with you shay don't understand why people like all this over the top kaum on their clothes with even more over the top prices.

I was so suprised that b4 going to pak in dec-jan this year people were like mangay mangay mangay light kaum stuff they were selling for $200 then I go to pak and I find it's really not THAT expensive. Some people take advantage of the fact that people in the US don't necessarily know the worth of things...

Re: Reasonable priced outfits please?

hi
i can make a kaamdar(light)suit in ur price range mentioned above....u tell me ur ideas tooo

Re: Reasonable priced outfits please?

cynoption was previously called cynosure. There was another store by the name of options also in bahadurabad. they merged and they called it cynoption lol. I dont know what became of the other boutique.

you get AMAZING stuff in pakistan for amazing prices (unless you go the designer route ofcourse). and the fun thing is that the quality ranges from ok to fantastic.

I think its silly to order online from here unless you have no one (or no one with good taste) in pakistan that can shop for you or unless you make no trips to pakistan. if u have no one and u are a working woman its really no biggie to buy an outfit for $300 for a close relative's wedding...

Re: Reasonable priced outfits please?

When you are a working woman and dont have to justify the cost to anyone or arent deducting from a family budget then buying whatever you feel is a reasonable price is fine.

However, if there is only one income coming in the house and you have to buy clothes for an entire family for an upcoming wedding, you have to be careful how much you spend.

People like myself who live outside of Pakistan are not going to wear those suits very regularly, in fact most of my outfits have been worn mostly once only and occasionally worn twice. In my daughters case, she wears it once and by the time the next event arrives, she has outgrown her clothes so they get wasted again. I just wish people would have some consideration for the average person who doesnt have ridiculous amounts of money or doesnt want to spend so much on a one time outfit.

Re: Reasonable priced outfits please?

for ppl on a budget turning a moms outfit into daughters always work gr8.wildhalycon how old is ur daughter n wat sizes r u looking for coz i hav 2 party dresses never worn coz they were small for me..

Re: Reasonable priced outfits please?

Wildhalcyon, i totally agree with every word that u put down. I dont know if i'm being totally naive but some of the prices of outfits being listed on the classified section at the moment are sooooooooooooo expensive. There is no way i'm spending $200 on an outfit that ziyaada se ziyaada i'm going to wear twice, it just doesnt make sense for me to do that. I just wish the guys and gals charging these high prices would take into account the normal desi woman who hasnt got hundreds and hundreds of dollars/pounds to spend on one outfit. I work part time and i've got 2 young children, my husband would freak out if i spent $250 on one outfit!

Where are all the reasonabley priced "Nice" outfits????

Re: Reasonable priced outfits please?

Yup, such clothing designers who charge ridiculously high prices should burn in hell for not keeping in mind the average desi woman in mind.

Them and textbook publishers. :halo:

Re: Reasonable priced outfits please?

It really depends on your size Mab. My soon to be 13 year old daughter is now the same height as me (5' 5") and a size 10. I have several outfits that are her size (the ones that no longer fit me:o)but all the clothes I do have that she could borrow, she think are too 'budday' though I think I have reasonably good taste.

She also hates kurtis because she thinks thats 'too Asian'. She once argued with me to wear jeans at a relatives weddings because she hates Asian clothes. Now why on earth would I want to pay $200 plus for some nakraywali like her knowing that the outfit is going to be a one time deal?

Actually, I think thats not a bad idea to have people sell clothes they have worn only once here. Might start digging out her 'old' (mostly never worn due to .."uggh..i wouldnt be seen dead in that")clothes.
