I agree with everyone calling for tolerence and live and let live and those other rosey ideas.

just because someone aint on board regarding zanjeer matam and slicing babies heads open or horsey processions does not make that person pro-yazid or anti ahle e bait.

its not black and white , there are not just 2 extremes here, there is not even a continuum between 2 extremes. there are divergent viewpoints and perspectives that simply can not be understood using a polarized balck/white aproach.

Igonoring the first part since I dont know u all that well, No one will disagree with the second par of ur post.
My point in bringing up those specific threads.....and as I mentioned before is that we need to see the pattern. Its easy enough to send our general declarations of peace and ordering everyone to repect each other's beliefs. On face value you wont find any one here who would object to that (save JL maybe (sorry...couldnt resist :) ) )...the point is if you really look at ANY of the threads right now theres really a specific group of people who start the 'intolerence'. Infact lets look at this very thread. I posted the list of sectarian threads and alleged that they were anti shia. Now instead of responding to that by nullifying my claim, the esteemed genetleman implicitly defended their right to open anti shia topics saying thus:

[Quote]
"Why are shias only sad or display their sadness during Muharram? What happens the rest of the year... temporary memory loss kicks in or something?"

You think that types of things that happen during the matams and how horses are dressed as if Imam Hussain/Hasan were on them.... and shia "imams" are worshipped would be approved by those who shias mourn? The karbalites couldn't do much when these "imams" were being killed and now we have these sanctimonious "processions" for few days in Moharram, what a regretful way to pay respect.

Again...this has nothing to do with the topic at hand. We are not discussing beliefs but how they are attacked in threads here. And you can see after that post its people responding. Same pattern.
Instead of preaching high values which everyone agrees to, why not actually go through those threads and see where the problem lies. This is not a sunni/shia thing....most posters from either side of the divide are pretty civil. Being rude in speech and ridiculing someone's beliefs are two very seperate things. The former I dont really mind; but the later I admit I dont have much 'tolerence' for. Its is the later which is the cause of the first and you would be well advised to look for that.
