The Prophet Muhammad :saw: said:
“(The comparison of) this world to the next is similar to when one of you dips his finger…in the ocean and then looks at (the amount of water) stuck to it.”![]()
[Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1330]
Thanks for sharing
Nice reminder. It is one of the most beautiful hadiths which I've come across. Puts everything into perspective, doesn't it? Would you rather spend time on the water stuck to your finger, or the endless ocean?
JazakAllah!
For the not so bright ones like me :halo: can you please eloborate on it.
I am surprised to know that u could not understand it at all.. That is certainly not u brother.. i know u.. a person who comes up with articles of intelects on his behalf on every walk of life at Gupshup never heard this famous hadith in his life.. I seriously hope bhai aap ISS TIFL-e-MAKTAB kaa imtehaan lay rahay haiN and u know the meaning more than me…
and i hope whatever i will say u will come again to either making me feel happy for if it is correct or correct me if it is wrong, unlike the other thread ![]()
the analogy is so simple yet so deep that we can truely wet our eyes with the fear and love of ALLAH…
**Whatever good we get in this world is not comparable to what a momin will get in life hereafter… **
I think i must stop here cuz I can go on and quote ayaah about how shaitaan makes our bad deeds look good in our eyes then how this world is made so beautiful in our eyes by shaitaan that we simply can’t think of anyother place better than this… etc. etc… BUT the hadith is self explanatory .. at least for me.. wallah-O-ALam
if i am mistaken or could not elaborate it as was needed please, enlighten us all with the true guidance from ALLAH and Rasool :saw:
Re: Reality of this world
wow.
To see a world in a grain of sand…Takes genius to perceive it…JazakAllah for sharing…:k:

It wasn't for myself rather I understood it right off the bat. It was being considerate for those who cannot fully comprehend the hadith or made variations of it.
Hadiths/Ayah's are usually metaphors and have numerous meanings. What I am trying to do here is have people make their own thoughts about it and understand fully where this hadith leads to otherwise its a misunderstood hadith like i.e. most women will be in hell, which is out of context and not true. They should be able to understand all angles of it. Its better than taking a dangerous literal meaning.
When I ask you to elaborate, it is for this cause, to make it crystal clear as if you're teaching a child. To realize not everyone is of the same intellect or wisdom level.
Some would be discouraged by this hadith to live any further simply because there is no point to living anymore as this life really is nothing comparitively to the here after. Next, they are brain washed into thinking that if they give their life in the cause of Islam they'll attain instant karma. So they cut their own leash short and voila, we're labelled as suicide bombers.
Think about it, if we glorify the life after so much that we forget to tell this life is a gift too.
A few days ago, a gentleman of another faith had questioned me the same about the after life. He asked me why is there so much emphasis on the after life and ver little on this one. I told him like it is, its ignorance and misinterpretation. We do believe that there is a greater meaning but people then start giving no value to this life and in turn become selfish bigots
p.s. I didn't want to elaborate on your other thread as it didn't need any from my behalf.
tau aap imtehaan hee lay rahay thay:)
next time if i dun explain… please atleast explain it if u know it instead of asking… Jazak ALLAH:flower1:
