So, Real were here in L.A. for a friendly game. It was on FSN..and I watched it. Not a bad exhibition game. Zidane was just toying with kids out there. He definitely didn’t look his age(well besides the baldness).
I hope one day MLS gets closer to that level of play. I was so happy to get the soccer channel today because I could finally see some quality soccer. The MLS drives me crazy sometimes with the poor passing. I love the american hustle. But the spacing and passing can get really ragged sometimes.
We’re getting there though. Our national team is respectable now, and we seem to be having a real youth movement.
Galaxy weren’t nearly as bad as I anticipated. I thought they’d get slain horribly, particularly after Chivas (the real one, not the awful US team) lost 3-1. 2-0 wasn’t bad and they had a few chances. What was rough was that only a couple of the Galaxy players looked like they were real soccer players out there. Cobi Jones and Jovan Kirovski played well, but the rest looked like amateurs for the most part.
