I am thinking of buying the slimfast milkshake powders and Knoor soups but I am unsure of how healthy they really are.
Any advice? Is it better and cheaper to make them at home?

Re: Ready made soups and milkshakes
Hm. Milkshakes are fine (I think) I don’t know about soups :hinna:

Re: Ready made soups and milkshakes
I can't say about milkshakes but the main issue with packaged soups would be the amount of sodium they contain. In order to preserve them a lot of salt has to be added. Sometimes its almost your whole days intake. And of course there's no way of telling the nutritional value i.e with homemade soup you can put as many vegetables or concentrated chicken stock as you want as well as skim off the fat, so you know exactly what you're getting.
If you don't have any options then there are 'healthy' versions of the soup with low sodium, low fat options but IMO home made soups are easy to make and much better for you. I usually make a ton of chicken stock on a weekend and then freeze it and then all I have to do is add whatever ingredients I want to the soup.

hmmm ok. I don't think I'll buy them. It's just a bad habit to get into buying these things just for the sake of saving some cooking time.

Re: Ready made soups and milkshakes
hate soup! even home made, just doesnt do it for me, milkshakes dont mind home made ones, outdoors never know how much syrup they have included, so try to avoid.
Re: Ready made soups and milkshakes
i like campbell's stuff. the canned one at least. i made the mistake of buying dry soup, and it's disgusting. i'd rather spend a day making a batch of soup from scratch than drink that stuff. i did that though.
the slimfasts are good to get nutrition but IMO it shouldn't be a substitute for a meal. you'd just end up getting hungry in like 2 hours.
Re: Ready made soups and milkshakes
I've been on the slim fast shakes for just over a week now, and I must say they are quite tasty, I just add a few ice cubes and mix it using a blender. I have 2 shakes, one healthy meal + 3 fruit snacks a day (also I'll have a green tea and mix Manuka honey init). On Top of that I have been exercising almost every day, Although I haven't lost weight my trousers are better fitted on me, and people have said I look slimmer.
If you have a sweet tooth like myself then this would be a good diet to go on. I'm not a fan of soups in a powdered form simply becoz they taste wack so wouldn't really recommend it, Its best to make ur own soup and then freeze it
Re: Ready made soups and milkshakes
I have done the slim fast diet with exercise and I dropped around 20 pounds before pregnancy. It does work if you include workout in your diet. CE- i have a sweet tooth as well so I loved having shakes and snacks like protein bars and fruit.
I don't like the idea of soup either because it didn't fill me up quiet as much as the shake does.
