Ready made - non designer lehenga's in islamabad/lahore/faisalabad??

Hii ladies ..

wondering if anyone can guide me … i was just told that its practically impossible to get ready made good quality non designer lehenga’s from islamabad/faisalabad/lahore…

anyone knows if thats true ? i was told you can get loads of unstiched lehengas..

I will have only 3 weeks to get one before my wedding and am heavily relying on a readymade lehenga … from any of the three locations i mentiond above .. please guide me ..

went to pakistan in dec 2008 and stayed for 2 1/2 weeks went to every possible store in lahore for bridal found a boutique in lahore (anarkali) and found a lehnga which wasnt stitched but wanted to change a few bits and pieces and wasnt in the color i wanted so i asked them to make me a lehnga with the same style but with the colors and fabric of my choice and got it a day before i left you can find ready made lehngas and they may not be stitched when u look at them but it doesnt take more than a day or so to get it stitched bc they have to be stitched according to ur size.

but my experience regarding ready made lehngas is tht u have to compromise a few bits and pieces my main goal was to get the colors i wanted i wanted a 2 tone lehnga and had my mind made up tht i was goign to do sea green with red but when i got there i saw a turquoise with lite green (the color of the lehnga i got copied to my liking) i decided to change the colors to light green and red (not tomato red) but a very rich dark red (not maroon either) and it came out so much better than i had envisioned it.

my advice to u is go to every bridal store in lahore or anywhere you go and see wut u like and if u find somthing u like dont but it right away (unless its actually wut ure looking for and dont want to think twice) still shop around and after u think uve seen everything then go back to the one u like and buy tht...this way it makes u want tht lehnga more and u no deep inside tht uve looked everywhere and know tht wut ure getting is the best of the best.

a quick question ... the shops that have the unstitched lehenga's..do they do the stitching for you ? or do we have to find a tailor who must do that ... people scared me that it takes two months for tailors to return orders and i dont have that kind of time at hand ....

also like you mentioned , if we order a lehenga in the colors and fabric of choice , how many days do they take?

I remember , wearing a long skirt some time back and it looked horrible on me ! and i am wondering if lehenga's are the same style ?

u can get decent quality ones for decent prices from think pink in lahore and libaas in ISB, lahore, both.

Hey Rosendeva, It looks like we both are on the same boat. I'm leaving 4-5 days before the wedding, So, "I have to rely" on ready made lehnga.

Are u getting married in Islamabad? and when are you leaving.
I can't trust relatives like chachis/phophos/khalas nobody for wedding stuff.
So, my parents have to do all the shopping when we'll go back.
If u r buying ur lehnga from Libaas, do u have any pics of their lehngas?

think pink is in liberty market. they're pretty good but i heard they've jacked up their prices in the last couple of years. My cousin got her valima outfit made from there and she said it was almost as much as her baraat outfit, which was an HSY. I just go there for the shoes!

I've always loved anarkali the best. Majority of the stores there do an amazing job. I got a desginer lehenga copied from one of the stores and they did an amazing job. Came out even better than the pic and it only took them a week and a half (but i had to bug them a lot to rush it).

meethi , yes we do seem to be on the same boat ! we both are stuck !

yeah inshallah i will be getting married in islamabad and then walima will be in lahore ... but the wedding is in november i think .. we are yet to decide the dates ...

my prob is i will only be in pakistan 3 weeks before the wedding ... and like you cant rely on aunt to get me some lehenga... so pretty much only hope is to see a few shops and finalize something pretty quick ...

i will keep you informed though of my research ... when are you getting married ?

murree rd in pindi has plenty of bridal shops and bridal lehengas and the show u samples and u can make changes and they stitch it for u definately within 3 weeks...and the good thing is you will always be pleasantly suprised at how good it turned out

whoever said you cant get a good non-designer lengha clearly doesnt know where to shop or has too much money to burn.

Here is some info about wedding shopping in Pindi. rozendeva, Pindi is pretty close to Islamabad so you can check the shops out

*Mohsin Sons on Muree Road (+92-51-4841159). They have another shop in moti baazar but no one recommends it. Both shops have the same stuff. There is also a big market on muree road just behind Mohsin Sons.

  • Shops on Chandani Chowk.

*Fashion Ka Ghar, GOGO Fashions, Zari Palace and Rabi Center on Muree Road.

*Bin Chirag, Sha POSH (next to KFC), Zardozi and shops right opposite of Bareeze shop in Sadaar. Zardozi has beautiful stuff as well as ready made bridals. They also have in-house darzis so you can get your alterations/stitching done.

*Moti Baazar and Qila have relatively cheap stuff but you have to check the quality. There is one street in moti bazar that has a lot of really nice/elegant wedding dresses. You have to look around.

Here is some info about shopping in Lahore:

  • Bano and Baba Bazaar in Anarkali

  • Auriga in Gulberg

  • Libas-e-khas, Saleem Fabrics, Think Pink in Liberty. Cavalary’s al-Fajar has good fabric. Think Pink has great reviews and you have to really haggle there. Keep a margin like Rs 50,000 or less even if the salesperson says Rs 80, 000 or above for any of the lehngas. For the formals I think Rs 10,000 or less even if the price is Rs 20,000 plus.

  • For kaam wala suits/formals do try Basement at Liberty. A kaam wala, Master Jee comes highly recomended. He has many designer copies and is relatively cheaper than brand names.

  • Missoni and Collections at Fortress

  • Rang Mahal, Ichra, Moon Market,

  • Zardozi, Ali’s Bridal Gallery, Ali Zari house have ready made unstitched lehngas. They also have good reviews.

  • Defence Y block has all the cool designer shops. Kuki Concepts, Karma, Sarah Salman, Hajra Hyat, HSY, Maria B and Lajawanti. Do visit to keep designs in mind and find the ones you like in cheaper places. Please, please, if you can take pics and share. :slight_smile: Maria B is the designer who is getting GS praise nowadays for being friendly and prefessional.

  • Lubna’s Boutique in RAJA CENTRE on Main Boulevard in Gulberg. She is a home based designer

  • If you want casual stuff as well then go to Pace in Gulberg, Generation, MM Alam Road, Khaadi and Cynosure. KHAADI in Mini Market is great for unstitched material.

  • Babar Plaza behind khussa mahal in Liberty is a great place for artificial jewelery. Choice jewellers has great stuff.

  • For groom’s stuff, go to Haroon House opp. Panorama Centre. Take a fabric swatch/pic of the lehnga you choose to match his outfit, too.
