I have to read something, while I eat, otherwise I’m not able to properly enjoy the meal. Its been like this for as long as I can remember. I remember reading children’s books in Urdu, while having my lunch, even when I was as young as seven or eight. Perhaps even younger.
And yes this also (sometimes) goes on at restaurants, to the dismay of my wife. Which is way I rarely am able to properly enjoy a meal in gatherings. Its not that I am anti-social, but its just one of those quirks/habits you acquire in childhood, which you are not able to shake off, even as an adult.
I’m trying to cut back on it while eating out. So anyone else who has this habit?
I had this habit in my childhood. Everytime my parents would tell me to concentrate on food. I read so many books, newspapers, story books, children magazines (phool, taleem-o-tarbiyat, bachon ki dunya, nonaihaal, bachon ka bagh). Even when someone brought bread (roti) wrapped in a piece of newspaper from tandoor, I would read news items on that piece during the meal.
Must be easy for all of you to shed weight
Take away the reading , watching etc and you all will shed weight
