Re: Reading the Quran is Sawab?
The hadeeth, if I remember correctly, is narrated by Hadhrat Aisha:razi2: which states that each letter of Quran bears 10 good deeds, pardon from 10 bad deeds, and elevation of status in the eyes of ALLAH to 10 more steps; something along that line… and the hadeeth specifically says that Rasoolulah:saw: was asked that even if Quran is read without understanding.. and Rasoolulah:saw: replied in affirmation.
Now, having said that.. reading Quran without understanding and getting sawaab is one thing but reading Quran with understanding bears a lot more sawaab if it is acted upon as well.
So, if someone reads Quran without understanding, IMHO, it is wrong to tell people not to read in Arabic at all… but it is always recommended to tell them to read it with understanding…
