How long does it take roughly, for an adult to complete reading the Quran?
This is for a first timer. Also for a female, any ideas on how to find a lady teacher?
Is it possible to finish in say, 3 or 4 months?

Re: Reading Quran
^ Oh yea. That's if you read like 5 hours a week or something.
Re: Reading Quran
KRD, Quran is not some book that you go through willy nilly. One should make an effort to learn the proper pronunciation and grammar. I will relate my own experience, I started when I was only 4 years old...I was done when I was 7. From then on, there were other studies related to Quran.....like Arabic language courses (in shcool), lessons, and of course continued 30 minutes session every day with Qari sahib to improve pronunciation and understanding of Quran.
Re: Reading Quran
phatima1, thanks...Inshallah i'll be able to do that.
Kaleem, i realise that...of course i fully intend to read it sincerely and with the proper pronounciation...i'm not 4 yrs. old, so it's a bit different when ur reading as an adult. I went to Islamic Sunday school as a child, but since we moved around a lot, never finished. And i wud love and am determined to complete it before i get married. That's y i don't have a couple of yrs. or something, and was curious to know if it cud be done in a few months. Thanks for ur input.
Re: Reading Quran
It depends on the age of the person and the circumstances. When i was 5, started to read Qurran but finished at the age of 10 as ma first molwi died of heart attack, ma second one just came once, the third molwi smelled like telcolm powder (so never asked him to come again) and so on...... finally found one decent molwi and by the age of 10 finished Qurran. :D
Anyway good luck
Re: Reading Quran
Remember, if you get tired or bored just put away the Quran for couple of hours and go do something else so that you are not overwhelmed with a notion that you "have" to read. Last thing one want is being fed up with something... so don't force your self and read what you can easily.
Good luck!
Re: Reading Quran

Jaan Leva, ur rite...thank u for the good advice.
Re: Reading Quran
krd, dont worry. i personally started it at the age of 17(late, i know) and finished same year itself. my uncle(dads bro) was extremely well versed in it and used to live in the house above us and made me do it very effieciently and quickly.
i used to read for about a couple of hours daily(mainly in the evenings after football practise) and a little in the mornings. its very much possible to complete it in a matter of months if u r regular and disciplined
Re: Reading Quran
I fully agree with Kaleem here. Emphasis on grammar and pronunciation is of utmost importance and don't worry about finishing it. Give it as much time as it requires to finish, but try to ensure that you get the tajweed right, insha'Allah.
Sadly, I read in an Urdu accent and have a horrible tajweed. Something I hope to work on preferably once done school, insha'Allah.
Re: Reading Quran
its good to finish i supara everyday then you will finish i one month
Re: Reading Quran
Thanks everyone.
On a side note, Islamically, r women allowed to be taught Quran from a man...or r we encouraged to find lady teachers?
