Reading food labels

Can someone please post a nutrition info label from any food product and educate us on how to correctly read it and get value out of it?

Thanks.

Alright lets start:

Re: Reading food labels

very very very important: serving size. based on that the nutrition information is given. so what you think is half a bowl of cereal might not be their half, and you might end up getting more calories than required/you think you are getting.

Re: Reading food labels

So in the above example, the numbers are for 2 crackers. Correct?

Re: Reading food labels

yup. so the whole box does not contain 60 calories. it's the 2 crackers that contain that much calories and fat.

Re: Reading food labels

Out of the 60 cals, 15 are from fat.
Total fat in the 2 crackers is 1.5 g which is only 2% of the daily requirement of 65g for someone on a 2000 cal diet, eh?

Re: Reading food labels

yeah and sturated fat is a lot more in food like beef, eggs, salmon and certain nuts , now imagine if u had all that as a meal alongwith bread full of carbs with coat of buutter on it ............... that too after having a box or half of snacks etc

Re: Reading food labels

Lois should tell us.. after all, she's the daactar sahiba.

Re: Reading food labels

^ lol You should ask ur hubby to come here as well :stuck_out_tongue:

Aight here is another one:

This one is for one bowl of macaroni and cheese.
Saturated fat 3g
There is Trans-fat as well, which is not healthy.

Re: Reading food labels

That should be great for my kids, but I better stay away!
