I want a recipe to make Cheese whirls and cheesecakes. I know i can do a quick search but i hate following instructions from a book..i’d rather someone whos in the know-how, desi style na, to tell me.

I haven’t had these in a while and i need to cook and feast.

And any directions should be for 10 people, i make up 5 and the rest is leftovers for my famile to scrap over.

But to follow the instructions, first you have to say 'cheese' :)

If you can wait till I get home I have a really really easy peasy cheesecake recipe (courtesy of Nigella) and it doesn't use any posh ingredients either. Its made with those Maryland packet cookies and Philladelphia cheese.

Oh and cheese whirls are puff pastry (buy the ready rolled kind and save even more time), sprinkle the surface with melted butter and loads of grated cheese, roll up pastry into a swiss roll kinda thing and slice into rounds. Place in baking tray and bake in oven till all puffy and golden brown. And make sure you save me some.

Shahreen: sounds delicious ;yum yum:

Couldn't find the recipe I was telling you about DD - will keep looking as its such a great one - but this one is good too. And I know so because I made some this morning......purely for research purposes of course.

Chocolate Cheesecake.

125g digestive biscuits
50g very very soft unsalted butter. (No, its not the same as lard)
150g caster sugar
3 eggs (supposed to be large eggs but who cares, eggs are eggs)
3 egg yolks
500g cream cheese
1 teaspoon lime juice
175ml sour cream
150g plain chocolate melted

Preheat oven to 180 c/gas mark 4.
Chuck biscuits and butter into food processor and blitz till crumbly. Press mixture into bottom of cake tin till base is covered and leave in fridge while you get on with the filling.
Beat cream cheese till smooth, then mix in sugar. Add the eggs and yolks, one by one. Mix well between each addition before adding the next. Stir in the sour cream and lime juice and mix well untill smooth and creamy.
Now gently fold in the melted chocolate. To get a nice marbled effect don't mix it too well. But if you already have then don't worry, no one will know any better.
Take the tin out of the fridge and line the outside with two layers of kitchen foil. Stand the tin in a roasting tray and pour enough boiling water into the tray so that it comes up to about 2 centimeters up the tin. (All that sounds a bit of a hassle but its not)
Pour the cheesecake filling into tin and place whole thing in oven, should take about an hour to cook but you can tell when its ready as it will be brown on the edges and the top will be lightly set with a hint of a wobble underneath.
Remove foil from tin and leave to cool. Then refridgerate before turning out of tin.

Hope that helps.
