As always it depends on the words used , the context , the situation , the place and the time.
It can be as offensive as hell and or it can be heartfelt compliment.
In the first case that guy will be on the floor seeing stars the moment he utters those words.

well being a wife, i'd feel really embarrassed if such comments r passed infront of my hubby, but as mirchu uncle said the situation n the words used make alot of difference

As far as I know about my Hubby, I think he will not react, but for the next time, will avoid taking me infront of him!

It would be fine... open compliment on your wifes beauty. The men you need to worry about are the ones that hit on your wife behind your back.
One hassle marrying a "stunner" - there will be more frequent situations where men would approach her than if you married an ugly.
