I really wish that designers could take outdated suits and recreate updated new trendy ones like they do on American shows like project runway. Whatever are people suppose to do with suits that Are no longer in style. I spent upwards of $125 for an outfit. I know what many outfits could remade if tailors or designers were doing that. Good for the environment.

May be post the pictures of the outfit and see if anyone can suggest changes to that to give it a current look?

Add kaliyan. And extra fabric to make short kameez longer. I know a lot of people that have done this.

If you add kaliyaan/panels of pure fabric and embroidered borders for bottoms and add up to the nakhrailay tailor's charges, you can make a new dress out of all that costs ! I have recycled some of my dresses but using the spare fabric etc I already have so the costs were only what tailor charged.

you can get the kaam walay borders and necklines/motifs patched on another colour fabric to recycle though..that would be worth it

I was thinking getting an overcoat in a contrasting color and having palazzo pants for an outfit that has a khameez that is short (42 inches i think.

I've used dupattas to make shirts or added as panels/daamans/borders or have had saris made into suits...

I re dye lighter shaded pure chiffon dupattas into darker ones of clothes that are old and worn/torn.

I do both the things raania and khatti mentioned.

My mom had this old dupatta from her jahez with beautiful tilla work on it. I used it to make a frock with a pure silk bodice for myself. Always get comments when I wear it.
