Re-emergence of PML-Q

Re: Re-emergence of PML-Q

You mean most of the Qaaf League candidates would like to be adjusted in the 'safe zones' of seat ajdustment with the PPP? This makes sense. But why some of them not seeing this fact that not everyone could be adjusted in the 'safe zone' and they may actually have to fight it on their own?

Re: Re-emergence of PML-Q

I do not think PML(Q) cares about people leaving them a lot. They must be aiming for 10-15 seats (or at max 20) and if they get it, it will give them bargaining chips they want.

and when it comes to big picture, unless there is sudden (and mass) change in voter's mood (or political alliances scene), get ready for another coalition govt lead by PPP. Zardari guy is a smart politicians. Seemingly he know what is the price tag for people out there and he has buying power.

PPP
PML(Q)
ANP
MQM
and JUI (F)

Above mentioned parties can in my opinion easily form next govt and I have not even counted Independents and FATA guys who tend to go with Govt most of the time...

**PML-Q threatened by battle between PPP, PML-N
**

ISLAMABAD: Struggling to sustain its individual identity as a mainstream political party, the already-fractured Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain-led Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) seems now to be facing threats of extinction from its own ally, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

According to PML-Q insiders, many of its members are already in covert alignment with the PPP while the ruling party continues to approach some other ‘winning’ candidates from its ranks to join it before the next general elections.

And to add to matters, during a meeting just a few days back, President Asif Ali Zardari is said to have suggested to the Chaudhrys that they contest the next election under a PPP banner — basically a direct offer of a merger.

Full Report

Chaudhrys are right that despite an alliance with the PPP, their vote bank is made up of a different political ideology. On the other hand, we also know that traditional vote banks generally do not count political affiliations of their leaders, they just exist and remain available to their leaders if and when needed. This is one of the reasons why our leaders switch their loyalties so easily and so frequently.

Re: Re-emergence of PML-Q

Yes it is a possible scenario but I believe PTI will get 50+ seats and PMLN close to 80.
MQM and Maulana can form alliance with anyone so they may possibly go with PMLN giving them around 125 seats.
PPP-PMLQ alliance cannot get more than 60 seats so i doubt MQM and Fazlu will go with them.

I am strongly against PTI-PMLN alliance but if there is a chance of PPP, PML(Q), ANP
MQM and JUI (F) alliance making government then i will DEFINITELY want PTI to join hands with PMLN. At least it will give something different to the country, simply cannot afford same bunch ruling again.

Re: Re-emergence of PML-Q

And the blood-thirsty media? They will set IK on fire live on their prime-time talk show. I think they will be more lenient towards more-of-the-same rather than somehing new.

Havind said that, I think you are underestimating PTI's prospects :)

Re: Re-emergence of PML-Q

^ I agree in case of an alliance between PMLN and PTI, the media will pounce on PTI and let PMLN go as they have been doing for the past many months.

Re: Re-emergence of PML-Q

I agree with you guys, totally aware of media's reaction. PMLn are ready to even form alliance with PPP (vice versa) so their credibility is not at stake so PTI will surely suffer but i am more concerned about the country than PTI as a party.
I am underestimating PTI mainly because i don't want to be over confident and at the same time can't under estimate level of our JAHALT, still plenty of heads in sand.
Unless PTI specifically target rural areas, i can't see them winning 100+ seats. I have heard there is a plan to target rural areas when Imran returns from this tour so let's see how it goes. We also are unaware of consequences of party elections.

Re: Re-emergence of PML-Q

Looks like ppp will digest pmlq.

Re: Re-emergence of PML-Q

We only need to know who created PML(Q), for what purpose and what kind of people 'migrated' to PML(Q) to see why PPP and PML(Q) can sustain a partnership.

Re: Re-emergence of PML-Q

I read news item a few days ago according to which ppp has asked pmlq to merge their party in ppp. :)

Re: Re-emergence of PML-Q

The dear departed soul of 'Shaheed Mohtarma' would be overwhelmed with gratitude and happiness looking at the present state of affairs.

PML-Q threatened by battle between PPP, PML-N – The Express Tribune

ISLAMABAD:

**Struggling to sustain its individual identity as a mainstream political party, the already-fractured Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain-led Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) seems now to be facing threats of extinction from its own ally, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
**
**According to PML-Q insiders, many of its members are already in covert alignment with the PPP while the ruling party continues to approach some other ‘winning’ candidates from its ranks to join it before the next general elections.
**
Consequently, PML-Q’s leadership has conveyed “serious reservations” to PPP’s top leadership over the emerging threat and warned the ruling party that this situation will not bode well for the future relationship of the two parties, sources revealed.

**And to add to matters, during a meeting just a few days back, President Asif Ali Zardari is said to have suggested to the Chaudhrys that they contest the next election under a PPP banner — basically a direct offer of a merger.
**
“Chaudhry Shujaat has conveyed to the president in clear words that the two parties have different vote banks and contesting elections with the symbol of an ‘arrow’ was not possible. However, seat adjustments could be a good option,” a PML-Q leader told The Express Tribune.

**An influential family from Sindh, the Sherazis, have already aligned with the PPP while the Mehars – another political powerhouse in the province – are also being approached. Both families have been associated with the PML-Q for the past few years.
**
**While Ayaz Shah Sherazi is a serving MNA on PML-Q’s ticket, his father was made adviser to Sindh’s chief minister after the two parties formed an alliance some two years back. Muhammad Ali Malkani, another PML-Q MPA, seems like a potential defection to PPP.
**
**MPA Sheryar Mehar – PML-Q’s Sindh chapter President Ghous Baksh Mehar’s son – has been openly expressing his differences with the party’s leadership. Besides mounting fears of more defections from Sindh, PML-Q was also blindsided by the appointment of Manzoor Wattoo as president of the PPP’s Punjab chapter.
**
According to PML-Q insiders, the resourceful Wattoo is considered an expert of “political manoeuvring” and can affect PML-Q’s influence in Punjab. This move, which political pundits believe was mainly aimed at challenging the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Punjab, has also caused quite a bit of stir in the PML-Q ranks.

During the 1990s, Wattoo was able to dislodge the Sharif brothers’ administration in Punjab and form the government with a handful of members after support from the PPP.

“Some important members of our party, even some federal cabinet members from our party, can defect to PPP in Punjab,” a senior leader of PML-Q feared.

Solace?

To alleviate these fears and remove the burgeoning differences between the two parties, President Zardari has constituted a committee of four senior PPP leaders from Punjab.

The committee – comprising Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Wattoo and Imtiaz Safdar Waraich – is tasked to resolve differences with the PML-Q and listen to their grievances.

The same committee is also slated to work with the PML-Q to challenge the hold of PML-N in Punjab.

Re: Re-emergence of PML-Q

PMLQ was offered to contest elections under 'teer ka nishaan' by Mr President.

There are increasing fears in PMLQ ranks with Manzoor watto's appointment as he is keen to strengthen party postiion in punjab and that will push remergence of PMLQ on the sidelines.

PMLQ is already kind of disappointed with the move by PPP to break Shirazi Family of Sindh and get them in PPP.

Re: Re-emergence of PML-Q

As expected, more cracks in PML-Q and many more expected

**ISLAMABAD: With Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q)’s Ghous Bux Mehar sacked from his post as privatisation minister in the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)-led federal cabinet, many more disenchanted ministers from PML-Q are likely to quit – not only from the cabinet, but the party itself.
Sources privy to developments within the party told The Express Tribune that several cabinet members from PML-Q have conveyed their reservations to the party leadership. These include Federal Minister for Education and Training Sheikh Waqas Akram, Minister of Production Awar Ali Cheema (incidentally, a close relative of the PML-Q chief) and former Balochistan chief minister Jam Yousaf – who, despite being designated a federal minister, has not been allocated any portfolio. The disenchanted ministers maintain commitments made to them upon joining the cabinet are still unfulfilled, the sources added.
Interestingly, though PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain joined hands with rival PPP to save his fractured party, defections have continued unabated. The party was earlier dealt a massive blow when its Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chapter president Amir Muqam switched over to Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N).
Now, sources within PML-Q say that these ministers, and many others, are considering other options and the party leadership feared they may leave before the next general elections.
“Many PML-Q members including these three are already in touch with other parties. They are assessing the situation before making a final leap,” a close associate of the Chaudhrys told
The Express Tribune
. They have been complaining about development funds and commitments made to them by the party leadership before joining the ruling coalition, he added.
Differences between Jam Yousaf and Ghous Bux Mehar have also troubled the PML-Q leadership.
Although Mehar has not yet publically announced his resignation from PML-Q, his intentions appear clear. His son, Shahryar Mehar, has already resigned from the Sindh cabinet and joined the opposition in the provincial assembly.
The Mehars wield considerable clout in the northern parts of Sindh. Conflicting reports about which party Mehar may join after leaving PML-Q are currently doing rounds – some suggest the former minister may opt for PML-N while others say he will join Pir Pagara’s PML faction. Sources close to Mehar’s family, meanwhile, say that both he and his son will likely contest the elections independently or make local alliances, and decide to join a party after the polls.

After Mehar

Re: Re-emergence of PML-Q

Exit of Mehars will be a huge setback for Qaaf League. It looks like that the PPP has finally given up on the urban battlefield and now will be fully concentrating on its traditional rural powerbase. Zardari will therefore continue to pluck more flowers and buds from the Qaaf League so as to bring it to a point where it merges into the PPP.
