Since the original thread was locked, I am opening this thread to provide answers to the accusations made by the OP. Mods, please merge this thread with the original if necessary.
Before I comment on the allegations, I’d like to talk a little about the author of the post, Akbar Choudhry. This guy is a known Anti-Ahmadiya person on the payroll of Khatme-Nabuwwat hate group. It is his job to spew hatred towards Ahmadis. Taking his words as truth about Ahmadiyyat would be like taking words of a known Islamophobe about Islam.
For the past 100 years, it has been suggested that Ahmadiyyat is being funded by West, by Israel and whatnot. Atleast the author got one thing right here, Ahmadiyya Movement is indeed funded by its followers; not by West or Israel. The author has ASSUMED that Ahmadis are “forced” to contribute money towards the movement, without any fact check. So I ask the author to tell me whether Prophet Muhammad (saw) forced his sahaba (ra) to sacrifice their properties? Or did the sahaba (ra) gave their money and properties because of the Love Allah had created in their hearts for the Prophet (saw) and Islam. As an Ahmadi, I can attest to the fact that I or anyone in my family has never been forced to pay money.
Author’s entire article is based on a flawed argument that since Ahmadiyya movement had offshore accounts, it must be doing something illegal. Any reasonable person would know that it is NOT illegal to have offshore accounts. There are legitimate reasons for owning offshore accounts, one of which is protection of assets from overzealous governments such as the Govt of Pakistan, which has a known history of being biased against Ahmadis. Land and properties belonging to Ahmadis have been seized from them in Rabwah.
Interestingly, the author has answered his own question about “dubious projects” of Ahmadiyya community i.e “place of worship”. Lets expand a little more on the dubious projects which include:
Building or buying hundreds of mosques around the world. Here is a partial list of them since 2011. . http://www.ahmadiyyamosques.info/
A house of Allah may seem dubious to the author, but for any real muslim, a mosque is a center of his/her heart. These are actual building made with cement and concrete, not like the schools in pakistan which only exist on papers. The author seems to think that the head of Ahmadiyya community and his family hoard all the donations for their personal usage. Little does he know that it costs significant amount of money to build/buy mosques and to maintain the thousands of existing mosques.
Other dubious projects include publishing translation of Quran into 70+ languages and running several 24-hour commercial-free Islamic TV channels. Perhaps the author doesnt know how much does it cost to run just one commercial-free tv channel, and Ahmadiyya movement runs several of them around the globe.
These projects also include The building and staffing of over 600 charitable schools and 40 hospitals in some of the poorest parts of the world. The building of thousands of water pumps, solar panels and other facilities in disadvantaged parts of Africa and Asia etc. Other ‘dubious projects’ include providing for the families of Ahmadi martyrs, widows and less advantaged members of society.
The author fails miserably to make an impact by above mentioned quote. If income and expenses balance out, it is a sign of financial “Regularity”, not of fraud. Moreover, author has alleged that only one company is used to pay for all the expenses, hence other offshore accounts must be going in someone’s pocket. But according to the publicly available data about this charity, it had a budget of 15 million pounds.
Charity Details
Any educated person would realize that building hundreds of mosques and schools/hospitals would cost heck of a lot more than 15 million pounds. Hence the allegation that all other offshore accounts are fraud, is pure speculation on the author’s part.
Author suggests that Mirza family lives a Royal and lavish lifestyle. The truth is exactly the opposite. The head of Ahmadiyya movement lives in a small flat near Fazal mosque in London in a building which is mostly comprised of offices.
Here is a view of his residence, which is a far cry from Buckingham Palace that the author seems to be suggesting.
