Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq was admitted to hospital Wednesday with high fever and a chest infection but said he hopes to be fit before the India series next month.
“I have been advised to rest for one week and have undergone tests on a chest infection. The high fever has weakened me,” Razzaq told AFP.
“I hope that I will regain fitness before the India series.”
Pakistan meet India in three Tests and five one-day games, with the first Test starting in Lahore on January 13.
The 26-year-old allrounder missed Pakistan’s three-Test series against England due to an elbow injury, but played in all five matches of the one-day series which ended last week.
Razzaq has scored 1,523 runs in 37 Tests with 77 wickets as a medium-pace bowler, while his tally in 201 one-day matches is 3,948 runs and 223 wickets
Is this his way of missing out on Test series? He “missed” it similarly in Australia and was fit for ODI series, now before England series he “missed” it for similar reason
Just got off the ARY channel news. Razzak was shown on his sick bed at the hospital and looked very frail with his mom close by. I don't think he's playing any games in the near future.
According to reports in several newspapers as well as private television channels, Razzaq has been diagnosed with typhoid. Dawn said Razzaq had gone to hospital two days before being checked in, when he was discharged after a medical check-up. When he went again, on Wednesday, doctors revealed he had typhoid.
aaap kya national selector hain:p
Jub Gangu aasakta hay indian team may tu raazaq bhee aasakta tha Pakistan team may.
Anyway it could be a blessing in disguise for us.
I couldn't open the file which dhobi bhai sent since I am at work and cannot access these media files but I am assuming its the match where razzak hit 5 fours back to back in McGrath's over. It was Carlton n United series played in Jan' 2000. The 3rd team was india. Pakistan reached the best of 3 finals along with Australia after beating India in 3 matches out of the 4 played between both sides. That was the series where razzak dismissed tendi twice with his indippers and tendi later declared him as one of the bowlers who has troubled him in his career.
I loved Razzaq’s reaction after the last ball of the over. He practically ran half the field in delight.
McGrath’s reaction is worth seeing as well. The guy had completely lost it.
I looked through the archives, and couldn’t find this specific match details regarding Carlton & United Series, 2000. Perhaps you (or someone else) could look through the appropriate junctions and let us know the update. I am looking forward to it, as I was unable to find it, either.
