The problem however is that the guy has criminal record. I just wonder why do we have to continue electing or selecting or putting up with old guard.
In most of the countries, a convicted criminal will be disbarred from even the low level public office. We however will continue putting such people as PMs and what not!

Innocent!! It looks pretty deliberate to me. That's pure lafangapun. Forget this. How many times do you see couples walking down the street with husband's hand pressing ahem....?
I feel so sorry for amin fahim, he seems so honest n determined. The best thing I liked abt him was dat he neva backed off frm da decisions he took, seems like a man of his words :k:
may b asif zardari wud hv not gotten many chancez of lootafying pakistan in case amin fahim wud hv been da PM dat’s y he was not selected
Only joking but this should teach guys like Fahim and Imran to grab the opportunity with both hands (and both legs I might add) if ever offered something like premiership or any ship in future and not thokar maar such an important uhda in the name of democracy, justice or party manshoor whatever crap that is. It is simply not worth it.
I seriously feel for Fahim, so much qurbaniyan for PPP and yet the party stabbed him in the back
There's no stabbing of anyone. Politicians work for the party and the country, and not the other way around. If Gillani is the candidate acceptable to all parties, then that's what's good for the country. We cannot sacrifice the larger goal of political harmony to reward one party loyalist. Yeah it would have been great if he was given the opportunity, but there's no need for the media and sympathizers of Fahim to sensationalize the situation and create rifts in the political stability we finally have a chance for.
Please feel happy for the country, and sotp feeling bad for individual people.

You are right Sir Dig. I really hope that this government will bring the nation together (which certainly seems like it with MQM also joining in the bandwagon). In addition Yousuf Gilani is from another under-represented area: He is the first PM from the city of Multan and representing the Seraiki belt.

Sir no one is creating rifts here (hence my other posts) and I agree with everything you say here. No individual is bigger than the country but yeh kehna bhi ghalat hoga k back-stabbing ya ziyadati nahin huey hai. Good for Gillani if indeed the party has so much faith in him. Let's see if he can deliver now.
What’s so big a deal of him being a PM?:)We Pakistanies are quite capable of selecting the worst to run our affairs and kicking out the deserving. Pakistani filthy politics is not confined to our assemblies alone. Take a chill pill
Makhdoom Yousaf Reza Gillani to be the next Prime Minister of Pakistan Insha'Allah.
Congratulations to him and the Pakistani Civilisation as a whole.
For the sake of UNITY of Pakistan, I intend to support his Prime Ministership.
I know this might be hard for some but I plead to everyone to respect Makhdoom Yousaf Reza Gillani as a leader of Pakistan for the sake of the UNITY for the republic.
No matter what, everyone has to accept that he will soon be sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan and noone should hold any ill feelings in their heart against him.
This is our right and our duty as Muslims of the Republic. I cannot watch our people suffer so much for so long over mere ideological and personal differences.
