Every other desi recipe asks for RAW PAPAYA to tenderize meats. Where the heck do you buy this exotic ingredient?. I have seen riped papaya in american grocery stores but RAW ???.

yes, you can find them in chinese and sometimes in indian stores...and yes i agree with you funguy meat tenderizer and kachri powder is nothing as compared to papaya :)
Funguy, I used to have the same problems with finding raw papaya.....however you can buy papaya powder in supermarkets and it works jsut as well.
Funguy my little papaya, amongst the heaps of ripe papayas u r bound to find one or two green, unripened papayas. But if you want to save yourself the trouble of looking go to a korean/chinese store and they'll have plenty of the hard, green ones.
