According to the Indian friends I was talking to this weekend at a family get together, Ravi Shastri is a true and through RSS guy. So that sends negative vibes to the muslim players and especially the fast bowlers of the team right now.

as in the same Shastri who was taken to court for his "anti-hindu" activities by leaders of the hindu nationalist Bajrang Dal, an affiliate of the RSS?

^ Well it was a claim made by some ppl. I really don't follow RSS or know much about it if you would believe me. So I took what they said as true.
And when I said fast bowling, I was refering to what Indian pacers can do these day, not fast bowling across the cricketing nations.

You need to ask your "well-informed" friend -- how many hours he has stayed at Mumbai Airport.
To the best of my knowledge, I have personally seen this Ravi Shastri in one of the election campaigns for NCP in South Mumbai constituency during Municipal elections...though he was not a speaker, he was very much present on stage......For your friends info NCP is the local political party of Sharad Powar, which is currently ruling the State of Maharshtra with Congress and it's an arch rival of RSS (BJP).
In fact before your "revealation" came I was about to accuse Sharad Powar for doing a favor to Shastri.
