Ratin-A

I was suffering from minor, but constant acne, and my doctor gave me a generic Ratin-A medicine. i have heard a lot of great things about it, that it’s anti aging, clear up acne and very good for skin and stuff.
Right now i have noticed a difference in few parts after only a week of use, but at the same time it is bothering my skin too, like made it very sensitive and kinda dry. i asked my doctor and he told me to use it every other day instead of everyday.

has anyone else used it yet, does it normally make skin dry and sensitive or i am doing something wrong?
i looked through youtube and that one girl said to use it on a completely dry face, and use a tiniest amount possible, which i do but it is still bothering my skin. i really want this thing to work for me. please suggest if u know anything about Ratin-A

Re: Ratin-A

Retin A causes your skin to be dry and flaky and extra sensitive to the sun. You MUST use a good moisturizer. If using it every other night makes your skin too dry, then use it every 2 nights. I can only use it 1x/week b/c it makes my skin VERY dry. Also when I apply it, I apply it, leave it for an hour or so…and then apply a moisturizer (I use vaseline) on top. In the morning my skin is not as dry when I do it.

Read the link below. If you do a search on Retin A, you’ll find tons of other articles with similar information.

Re: Ratin-A

thank you so much, that really helps. i guess what i was doing wrong that i wouldnt apply moisturizer after applying this cream, so it contributed in dryness and irritation of the skin.
what kind of difference did u noticed after using this cream, other than improvement in acne?

Re: Ratin-A

Ratin A does make the skin dry. Make sure u use sun block as well when u step out.

Re: Ratin-A

Retin-A will cause mild flaking, sensitive skin. Use products that don't have too many harsh chemicals in it.. stay away from 'acne' facewashes and products as they contain salicylic acid and that may make the skin slightly dark (where you use Retin-A). Usually Retin-A is left-on overnight...but that might be too strong for you. Don't bleach your face either for now..

Re: Ratin-A

Don't use any products with alcohal or lemon on the face while using Retin A. Its commonfor the skin to be irritated while beginning to use Retin A. You have to break in slowly. Use very light amounts and then proceed. Also, remember that dry skin is sensitive skin so as other posters have suggested keep your skin moisturized. I am using a low dose version and I am fine despite having sensitive skin. Maybe if irritation continues you may ask your doctor to switch you on a low dose version for now.

Re: Ratin-A

oh crap, my doctor didn't tell me that. i was using my salicylic acid washfashes while on the cream. thanks for telling me, i hope i can recover from that weird dark skin now :s

Re: Ratin-A

i am already on 0.025% which i guess is the lowest. i think my skin is kinda adjusting to it. i also think i wasn't using it correctly, my skin is already very dry, and i wasn't moisturizing it after applying that cream.
