Hi. I am looking for something different and western to wear on my wedding day. The ideas on this forum have helped me lots - and you ladies have great taste! I came across this lengha that is unlike anything else that I have seen, and was wondering whether you could share your honest opinions. I have had different responses from friends and family - and sometimes it’s hard to know whether they’re being biased or not :s The lengha is by far the most important thing for me and once that’s sorted I can only then begin to even think about other things. This the dress and it seems very ‘moulin rouge’ inspired:
I think that with all the blingy kaam that is usually on a bride's blouse, lehnga, dupatta.....along with the jewelry .....and the heavy makeup.......is there REALLY a need for such ruffled sleeves? There just isn't.
I think that if you want to do something interesting with the sleeves without it overwhelming your overall look......you could look into stylish cuts within the sleeves....you can even have flared sleeves (which I like) and it won't be overkill.
nope, the sleeves ruined it. If someone wants to do a fusion type of wedding, it's probably better to go for a white wedding dress with desi embroidery.
:/ totally doesn't look right. it's not really something i would ever do! if you want outstanding sleeves then get longer sleeves with kaam all over them! They look muuuuuch better!
Umm, did the cake artist put icing on her shoulders because this look is too weird for me honestly. I think it is trying too hard to look a bit Western and modern. But then there will be people who think its unique and those who will say awful things about it after the wedding. But in the end its what you like but nothing this dramatic.
No, the sleeves look too prom like and not weddingy. Tasteful maxi styles and long gowns with dupattas are chosen by brides now. Have a look around, you'll find many examples.
if she were doing a shoot as a model for some bridal designer i'd say it works...but as a real bride it's just umm i dont have a nice word im just gonna give it a thumbs down
agreed..in my opinion, this bride looks very clownish...the sleeves and thick cakey makeup are too much.....there are many, many more ways to add Western/Non-Desi looks to your bridal attire, THIS should not be one of them....you should go the threads on this forum that have all the gown/"maxi dresses" that designers are coming out with...those are soo beautiful, in the understated "Western" way....
looks like a dulhan clown or circus like outfit, tacky and not something i'd be up for. i think there are other western inspired lenghas that don't have to be so over the top and have such exaggerated poofy sleeves and so forth. it's trying too hard.
