So how many have you read The Time Travelors Wife?
How many of you have watched the movie?
Which was better? -
I’m reading it now - and every now and then I wanna throw the book at the wall.
like what th flip? This Henry guys creeps me out; like what gentle man can beat up people like that, rob people and things and all those other bad things.
And the fact that he’s naked allot really kills it for me.
Not to mention creepy creepazoid w/ that whole Claire being 6 and him being forty something.. :haw:
okay so i figured I'll plow through the book.
I'm about three forths done with it. OMG the story does pick up.
Spoiler Alert
Maybe its just that I've had so much trouble with conceiving and miscarriages and babies; that it seems like the meat of the story in "The Time Travelors Wife" doesnt come until you're almost ready to reach the last pages.
Turns out that they are trying to have a baby and have 7 yes 7 miscarriages; so it kinda explores what the couple goes though; the hardships that actually bring them closer. The choice that almost every husband in this situation makes; having a baby worth possibly loosing the wife?
Still- I'm slightly dissappointed with the author. To much of a drag and so much was left unexplained. Like if Claire has a problem carrying her pregnancies to full term because of the time travel DNA (which baby and Henry share) then why didn't Henry's mother have similar problems. From what little is said about Henry's mother, the reader gathers that she had a normal pregnancy. And Henry didnt time travel till he was like three - acha chalo lets assume that before then his DNA was normal (not sure if it can change afterwards) but then why aren't the babies in Claire normal and inception?
I absolutely LOVED this book! it made me cry (the last chapter). You really have to give it time and eventually the book starts making sense.
The movie was rubbish in comparison to the book. I thought Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana make a very good couple but they didnt have any on screen chemistry. Also, I thought the girl who played their daughter was really annoying and they concentrated too much on their married life rather than Clare's early life. It was just a beautiful love story in the book and it was all rather rushed in the movie.
