I’m sure many of you have seen plastic glasses on mazars tied with plastic rassi (rope). I used to think that the purpose of such arrangement is probably fear of theft in areas.
Recently, a friend visited MCB Head office and he was like ‘tobah.. inn logon ne to Government Departmnets ka bhi record toR dia… chairs tied with ropes’ The he himself explained ‘wahan bethne ka boht masla hai. No one find seat there and people used to move chairs from one place to other. so the arrangement’.
That changed my view of glasses on mazaar. That may be done for fear of theft in some cases, but now I think in most cases its done to avoid misplacement.
Any Views for such arrangements?
What are the general attitudes towards theft in different cultures? What constitutes big theft and what is not constituted as theft if taken without permission?
yes, people dragging the chair and sitting anywhere is a huge problem and this is a crude and awful looking solution but it works!
here in the west, we don't have this problem but for some reason the rows of chair are all interlocked so they can't be individually move. this is probably to make people sit in a neat linear rows.
at the airport, i've noticed that a lot of people like to lie down and sleep while waiting for their flights. to avoid situations where all the seats are taken by those sleepy people, they have made the chairs with immoveable armrests which forces them to sit and not take more than one seat.
