Oh man this can be a very long post.. but dont hold your popcorn. Even if its not your roza time. There wont be any masala here
See, I’m a firm believer of unless you hear other person’s argument, you cant make your case to win over. And you if you cant make your case, how would you know your argument doesnt have a loophole in itself.
Ok Diwana sir, I’m glad you let things out even if its been a while. I heard its always good to have things off your chest. Second, based on other’s views one should never quit. But its just me. Everyone is different.
However, its your opinion about the people you named (or those whom you forgot to mention)
Everybody is entitled to have their opinion, and we should all respect it whether we agree or no. In other words we can agree to disagree. So far so good?
Critiscizing the system or wrong policies doesnt make a person Ghaddar, mulk-dushman, Indian agent etc etc.
Before I answer the thing you are interested to know, let me go through the names you mentioned. Because they are really very few names out of the dozens of mods that GS has had over the number of years. Literally teams of mods lol.
Ali Syed. I never had much experience with him but I dont remember reading a single post which I can label as “Anti-Pakistani”. I mean, comeon, the guy had a Pakistani flag as his avatar lol. He opened a number of threads for Pakistan. Very pro-Pakistani posts and threads. I have no idea why in the world would someone label him that.
Kher, moving on. :read:
PD, is a man with perspective. Very strong. Whether it was Cricket or Pakistani politics. And he usually backed his opinion with stats. Thats the trait I really like in any person whether its 180 degree opposite of my own. His critiscm on recent Pakistani leaders and the policy-makers may have led you to believe something but from what I know he has never been against the existence of Pakistan as a country nor he was against the founders etc. So how is he anti-Pak? May be anti-establishment but then its two completely seperate things. We didnt agree on many things and I remember tons of posts like that but thats ok. He was more critical of the policies and thats fine. Its a disagreement and we should live with it.
Southie was barely a mod for few and that was because of his expertise in Finances and hence for that section only. Whats wrong with that? If you see the behaviour of all Indians across the internet, you’ll see Southie is one of the gems. I disagree with him ALL THE TIME but I have a lot of respect for him. I miss this guy when he doesnt show up. We have had pages of conversations where we just kept on going back n forth with opposing posts but so what? Isnt it what educated people with different mindsets do?
Now Khatti might be a Indian born but from so many angles she was more Pakistani than many lol. Married to a Pakistani guy, having Pakistani friends and very well aware of our culture, norms etc. Please find me a post where Khatti said something bad about our country. I mean which you can label as Anti-Pakistan posts. And she was a relationship mod FFS, actually just one of many. lol. That was her strength. With so many similarities and respectable personality, since when did we start ruling out someone barely based on their birth certificate?
And I purposely left TLK for the end. You think he was anti-Pakistan because he married to a Indian born? LOL. Or was it because he criticized on Pakistani policies etc? Ok lets do this thing. GS is wide open, you can even search the archives. Please search and find posts from TLK and Niksik which lead you to believe they are anti-Pakistan.
Just came in mind, Shoaib Malik and Hasan Ali (Cricketers) married Indians, that make they anti-Pakistan?
TLK had one of the biggest contributions on GS over the number of years, other than 3 more people I know. Its one thing to login as the user and its completely another thing to start building
something from the scratch and flourish it as the website purely based on Pakistan. Starting from late 90s, the fact is, GS saw the best of years in TLK’s tenure. Now ofcourse when you manage something like this and enforce discipline you do need to make some strict decisions and those decisions will not make everyone happy. So I believe that more than his posts, some of those decisions turned you off. And thats understandable. I respect your disagreement. But I’ve no clue what lead you to believe he was something like hater of Pakistan or lover of India etc.
If the case is why did they allow other Anti-Pakistanese to post on GS, then let me say this based on my experience as a simple mod. When someone starts posting it takes time to understand if they are bashing senselessly or they are actually trying to make a point. We have to give them room. Let them come out of the bag and yes if they turn out to be a real hater, ban them. And nobody can deny that there were like tons of bans slapped in those years. Both for anti-Pakistanis as well as anti-Islam.
So, in the end, it ends up to your question of why there is a change. Um.. what change? From Anti-Pakistan to Pro-Pakistan? In my opinion the people you mentioned were never anti-Pakistan to begin with. Otherwise why would they spend years and years on a website like GS.
And who knows what I comment next will make you put me in the list of Anti-Pakistans as well. Its clearly a double edged sword :sigh: I’m very opiniated myself and never hold myself back either. So from what seems like, its coming soon as well.
Anyhow, writing all this actually makes me sad. GS deserves good people, good substance. Many used to be here but just like Diwana, you have your reasons which you just laid out, who knows what they got with them. I would love to have all of them back so that we can have big discussions in full swing again. I mean, whats the fun in hitting boundries fours & sixes on an empty ground
Once again, it all ends up to this: We should agree to disagree.
Respectfully,
-Sid
