Rasm-e-Mehndi event timetable

Hey…

I want to ask about the run up of events during my mehndi as I’m totally clueless. I am having an all ladies mehndi event so please advise if the details below are correct or need to be moved around:

  1. 6:30pm - Guests arrive
  2. My in laws arrive and bring mehndi to the hall
  3. My family bring mehndi to the hall and girls do a small dhandia dance and then I have my entrance
  4. Guests put mehndi on me and feed me mithai
  5. Dinner
  6. Rehearsed dance 1
  7. Dholki time
  8. Rehearsed dance 2
  9. Freestlye dancing the night away until 11:30pm

Am I missing anything out please let me know!

Sounds like u pretty much have it all.!

Re: Rasm-e-Mehndi event timetable

yep that sounds perfect!! my cousin had some karaoke too!! if time allows for it :) but her's went on until 7am! haha

also for point 3. - would you not have family bring the mehndi like walk in front and then you to follow so that you are also present when the girls do the dhandia dance?

or did you want to seperate the mehndi being brought and have your moment of glory when you enter? :p

Re: Rasm-e-Mehndi event timetable

Good point and this is exactly what I was confused on. Most people do this type of entrance however it can get quite messy so was thinking of seperating it but don't know yet....

Re: Rasm-e-Mehndi event timetable

I would do the dholki time while your mehndi/mithai rasams are going on. It gives more people stuff to do. Otherwise both things individually can be very boring.

Also don't interrupt the momentum of the dances.

Re: Rasm-e-Mehndi event timetable

i agree with Sahar. The guests would get pretty bored while your family members take turns to put mehndi on you and feed you mitthai. That's the best time to have the dholki because not everyone will be busy and they could join in the dholki.

I would move #7 up with #4, and have #6, #8 and #9 be back to back to back.

Re: Rasm-e-Mehndi event timetable

yea actually maybe it is best to seperate the entrance of the mehndi and your entrance.....because i know what you mean it does get messy and loads of people are crowding around, girls with mehndi, aunties and all sorts and your trying to sit on the stage etc...haha

Re: Rasm-e-Mehndi event timetable

How about the 'ungli pakrayi'? Excuse my spelling, haha. Basically where the bride's sister/friends hold on to the groom's finger and ask for money :P I don't know if you would have that rasam?

Although, while I'm on that topic, I suggest just doing one event for the money asking thing, either joota chupai on the wedding or the ungli pakrayi, just because these money asking events can drag on forever :S

Re: Rasm-e-Mehndi event timetable

Just wondering, how easy is it to do the dholki at the same time as putting the mehndi on the bride?

Re: Rasm-e-Mehndi event timetable

the ungli one is a wedding rasam i believe?

and yes ive been to a few mehndi/mayoons where the dholki happens while people are putting mehndi on the bride…its not like she is playing the mehndi…its to add to the entertainment while people are doing it…one mehndi we had a girls side VS guys side thing it was alot of fun!!

also recently my cousin had a professionaly artist and the dholki’s were all going on while she relaxed and got her mehndi done…so yes its very do-able
